front-loading washer class action lawsuit

A class action lawsuit has been filed against BSH Home Appliances Corporation, alleging that the company marketed, advertised and sold Bosch and Siemens brand 27” front-loading automatic clothes washing machines that are susceptible to mold and/or bacteria growth, which can cause foul odors. If you purchased a Bosch or Siemens 27” front-loading washing machine, you may be eligible for a cash payment from the BSH class action settlement.

The Bosch/Siemens washing machine class action lawsuit alleges that the front-loading washing machines (a) do not effectively clean themselves or work as advertised; (b) cause washed clothes to stink; and (c) develop mold, bacteria and/or other biofilm, which can lead to foul odors. The plaintiffs allege they paid more than they would have if they had known the front-loading washing machines required extraordinary upkeep to prevent the bad odors from developing. The washing machine class action lawsuit alleges BSH breached warranties and violated various state laws.

BSH denies that its front-loading washing machines are defective or are prone to developing mold, bacteria and/or other biofilms. Further, the company alleges that the recommended maintenance for the washing machines is not extraordinary and that it is effective at preventing mold, bacteria, biofilm and/or foul odors from developing.

On Dec. 12, 2014, plaintiffs filed a motion with the court, seeking preliminary approval of the BSH moldy washer settlement.

  1. CR Barnett says:

$55 will not be sent until all the appeals are played out, so it will still be a long time before any of us see the $. By that time, 55 will be equal to 35, enough to buy around 8 three packs of cleaning agent that rids the machine of mold for a few weeks….with the door open

  2. lisa says:

when are we getting a check??

  3. jimmy Perez says:

I agreed w/ all the above comments. For those of you wondering about your $55 from the settlement, as of 12-16-2015, I spoke to one of the administrator staff, he himself doesnt know the answer. It is a $55 farce!

  4. Patti says:

Curious….has anyone received the $55 check for the claims settlement?

    1. Sven says:

It was supposed to be a gift card, but no…nada. And now Bosch is implicated in the VW emission thing

  5. Cynthia Beam says:

I have the moisture and odor problem even if I leave the door open. Also the spinning problem and all of this is from the first week I had it. Nothing has been done or the lawyers havent given the go ahead on anything. The Bosch company cant say anything either, and still as of October 16, 2015 nothing has been done. Why spend a lot of money on a washer that doesnt deliver quality and reassurance. I think we need our washers replaced or enough money to get it replaced with a washer that someone doesnt have to worry about the quality like a top loader. Not just $55.00 dollars!

I received a Claim#, but it will not let me on, because my # start with 1002XXXXXXX, Is there away I can talk to someone live about my situations. Tired of listening to the machine.

  9. Robert Weinstein says:

I thought it was all in our heads when we started noticing mold on the inside rubber of the machine. Also the laundry did not seem to smell good or feel clean!! Our machine has had a $149 repair already and also this machine is not even 4 years old!! I am requesting a full refund!! This is a very disturbing situation not to mention the fact that we are wondering if using this machine maybe causing us to get sick! Please advise. We have filled out the form, made a copy and attached a copy of our sales receipt. By sending this out are we obligated to take the $55? Is it possible to obtain a more deserving refund? Please Advise. Thank you.

  10. Paula Kopp says:

Oh yes, I should have gotten another 9 – 10 years worth of clean washings. Ill never buy Bosh again.
