Pause on Johnson & Johnson Shot Lifted, Consumers Hesitant

Regulators lifted the pause on the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine, but some administration sites report a low turnout of consumers willing to get the shot.

On Sunday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced an end to the temporary pause put on the administration of the coronavirus vaccination developed by Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen. The pause was recommended by the regulators more than a week ago after a rare, but serious blood clotting issue was reported in recipients of the J&J shot

Regulators lifted the pause after issuing a warning to women under the age of 50 of “the rare but increased risk” of the development of a blood clot called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome.

The temporary pause appears to have taken a toll on consumer confidence in the J&J shot. In a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, more than half of respondents reported concerns about the safety of the Johnson & Johnson option. Indeed, many of those who had not yet been vaccinated said they would not be willing to get the J&J shot, reports The Washington Post

The survey results seem to be playing out on a national level, as some mass vaccination sites reported a substantial number of no-shows for J&J shot appointments.

A vaccination site in Orlando reported that approximately 90 percent of their J&J shot supply went unused on Sunday after the pause was lifted.

“We probably won’t have any events where we’re only offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine,” one public health official told the Orlando Sentinel. “We’ll offer it with Pfizer or Moderna so that people have a choice. Otherwise, if that’s all you have, I’m concerned they may not get vaccinated at all.”

Indeed, many Washington Post-ABC News poll respondents said that they want to get a vaccination, but trust in the one-dose J&J shot has taken a hit with many expressing a preference for two-dose options, Moderna or Pfizer.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor developments in this story.

There’s no way this vaccine can cause sciatica.
I have sciatica from pin placement after a car accident that left me with 9 fractures, 5 were in my pelvice. Massive internal damage to my organs and bleeding from my femoral artery. I also have an aorta aneurism, lymphedema from cancer surgery, and controlled high blood pressure, just to name a few of my daily medical joys.

I also am past retirement age, but continue to work. 40 hours a week. There I’m faced with people who refuse to wear masks, or wear them improperly, and those refusing to be vaccinated.

I finally was able to receive the J & J vaccine in April. What a relief to know I have some protection from the “I, me, mine” crowd.

There are exercises to help with your sciatica, if that’s what you’re currently suffering from. I use hot baths followed by ice applications, and NSAIDs. Roll on ” Bio Freeze ” is also great stuff.

I have heard stories of adverse reactions to all cthree covid vaccines, I’m sure there will be individuals who have some medical reaction, including death. However, until that number reaches near the current total of covid related death at 620,000 plus, not including those with lingering covid related medical issues, I think everyone, with few exceptions needs to grow up and get vaccinated. It’s not about the individual at this point, it’s about the masses.

Add me please i scared to get the shot

  8. Debbie Vertrees says:

On March 16 I was given Moderna vaccine lot #044A21A shortly after, March 29, while on the phone my speech became slurred. We went to minor Med center in Millington, they advised if stroke they aren’t set up for that & to go to hospital. The doctor on call there came out to check me first. She felt it was more Bell’s palsy & to see family physician. March 30 got into family doctor. Said it’s acting like Bell’s palsy with drooping face, but all other symptoms show TIA. They prescribed me a Z-pack, sent home & would get referral for neurologist. Went back to family dr a few times & symptoms getting worse. They were having trouble getting me into specialist as none in Memphis would see me as this was a reaction from moderna shot. Finally got into specialist in Bartlett. He states is Bell’s palsy along with stroke. He has set up MRI, EMG tests that I’m waiting to go to along with speech therapy & stroke therapy.
Right now I can’t swallow food, talk, hold my head up long, drool, all facial muscles are weakened as well.
I have heard of several others getting Bell’s Palsy after moderna vaccine. Right now I’m in the dark & scared

I’m following along Closely. I am terrified to get vaccinated. I am type 1 diabetic and my doctor only offered J&J when I was there for a routine visit. I declined since a possibility of those terrible side effects and it’s NOT TESTED for longer term safety. I am now un -vaccinated. I will wait..or not get it at all until all have run the test of time. And if I die from the real virus, so be it.

  10. Talitha Frazier says:

    Add me please
I took the Johnson and Johnson shot every since I took that shot my back is hurting I have pain going down my leg and the doctor keeps telling me oh now you have sciatica I never had a problem with this until I took the vaccine
