Side Effect Risk of Stroke Leads to Increase in Metal Hip Implant Lawsuits

In fact, the survey revealed that patients who underwent hip replacement surgery were looking at a 4.4-fold increased side effect risk in terms of hemorrhagic stroke that could occur within the first two weeks after undergoing hip replacement surgery. As a result of these new study results, many artificial hip implant patients are now filing hip implant lawsuits in order to receive compensation for their injuries.

The new study was performed on people living in Denmark and compared over 66,000 people who had undergone hip replacement surgery to almost 200,000 people who did not undergo the procedure. Alarmingly, it was discovered that individuals who opted for the hip replacement surgery were at a higher risk of stroke than those who did not undergo the surgery. Additionally, individuals who opted for metal-on-metal hip replacement devices were also at a greater risk of serious complications and the loosening of the manufactured hip leading to severe pain. In light of these concerns, patients are asked to know all their options and side effect risks before choosing the hip replacement surgery as their treatment options.

As though the recent discovery was not enough, patients are highly upset to learn about the side effect risks associated with metal-on-metal hip replacement implants. Based on recent reports and rising concerns, the FDA has been looking into the side effect risks associated with the all-metal implants. There have been concerns regarding metal shavings from the hip implants and whether they aggravate surrounding tissue, which may in turn lead to permanent damage and even the possibility of a repeat hip replacement surgery. In terms of increased stroke risks, patients who typically receive hip replacement surgery average around 72-years-old, which further increases the side effect risk of stroke associated with the metal hip implant surgery.

It has been recommended that individuals considering hip replacement surgery weigh the benefits of metal hip implant surgery against the risk of increased stroke. If you have already undergone an artificial hip implant surgery and have experienced a stroke or other side effects associated with hip implants, it is important to consult an experienced hip implant lawsuit attorney that is currently working with people who have undergone hip replacement surgery and experienced serious complications associated with metal-on-metal implants. This will insure that you are in the best hands possible and that they will be up-to-date in what is currently going on in the hip implant lawsuit litigation process.

Serious complications include but are not limited to the following:

* Bone damage
* Bone loss
* Metallosis (metal poisoning)
* Premature hip implant failure
* Pseudotumors
* Stroke
* Tissue damage

The hip implant lawsuits against metal-on-metal hip replacement devices are currently seeking compensation from hip implant device manufacturers.  Individuals will have to take into consideration the fact that hip implants may work loose as time goes by which can cause a significant amount of pain and may even require revision surgery. 1. Cara Rist says:

    My biomet metal him implant broke in half in January 2019, requiring an emergency hip replacement on January 4, 2019. Then in March 2022, I had a stroke. I now also have chronic migraines. Did my implant cause my stroke or headaches?? Biomet has been notified and they blew me off stating “we have already investigated your implant and we found no defects…”.
    This biomet hip implant has caused immeasurable damage to my mobility and has really impacted the quality of my life. They should be held accountable and I should get paid. Please help.
