NuvaRing Blood Clot Lawsuits Mount Over Serious Side Effects

By John Curran

NuvaRing blood clot class action lawsuitDeep vein thrombosis (DVT) and similar NuvaRing blood clot side effects have been alleged by hundreds of patients. Add a Mississippi woman, whose NuvaRing side effects lawsuit attorney added her to a multi-district litigation in New Jersey Superior Court.

The woman making the claim says that she suffered NuvaRing deep vein thrombosis side effects a few years ago. The entire NuvaRing lawsuit is more detailed than just that issue, however. Her NuvaRing injury lawyer is arguing that the manufacturer, Merck & Co., deliberately misled women taking the birth control device on two key issues. One, the comparison of NuvaRing deep vein thrombosis side effects was minimized to focus on oral contraceptives. In addition, by focusing on the side effects of other medications, Merck didn’t do enough to publicize NuvaRing DVT risks.

It’s significant because many women probably would have avoided NuvaRing if they knew of the NuvaRing blood clot side effects. Researchers in the United Kingdom found data showing that the risk of blood clots was nearly doubled for women who use NuvaRing and other vaginal rings. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine argued that the risk was even higher, perhaps as much as three times. While NuvaRing blood clots are the most common side effects of NuvaRing, there are even more dangerous problems associated with the contraceptive device.

For example, deep vein thrombosis is a blood clot most commonly found in the deep veins of the body, such as the legs or pelvis. Yet this NuvaRing blood clot side effect can lead to a pulmonary embolism or heart attack if the thickened blood detaches and moves through the blood. Similarly, if it reaches the brain, it can cause a stroke. It can be difficult to detect, as well as hard to treat NuvaRing deep vein thrombosis victims.

If you or someone you know faces these problems, there are options for victims of NuvaRing blood clot side effects, or the more advanced and deadly forms — pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis.
