It is rare for young men to take hair loss medications, but some still do. And the rarity hardly helps one man in his early 20’s. He started experiencing Propecia (finasteride) sexual dysfunction side effects nearly as soon as he began the medication before he was 21. They are not going away.
His Propecia multi-district (MDL) attorney filed a claim in New York with a number of arguments. According to one recent study, the average duration of side effects is roughly four years after patients stop treatment. For one man, however, it has lasted 20 years, according to court documents.
Part of the problem with finasteride depression side effects is how the medications work. For the young man in particular, the fact that these drugs tend to lower testosterone is bad news. After all in some cases, puberty does not end until around age 20. The body is still developing and hair growth is still occurring around the face and limbs.
Put simply, he was risking Propecia cognitive dysfunction side effects when his body wasn’t done growing yet. Unless he needed it for a related condition, he could face a lifetime of problems because of the treatment.

I hope everyone that has had issues with Propecia report it to the FDA so they can start documenting cases. I contacted them and basically said in my email. “I wish they would take a closer look at Propecia, because it had ruined my life…..and if they wanted to hear my story I’d email it to them.” They sent a very nice and understand email back and wanted to hear more…..I think more people should email them.
John, I don’t know if HRT will solve all his problems. May be it”ll help with some of the issues such as with his sexual drive, but only if his androgen levels are very low.
The problem with this drug is that many men have complained of mental changes. Which includes memory loss and fogginess. Many see no or little improvement even after HRT.
@ Brian- I don’t know where you live but get go to an HRT clinic or some other place and get on testosterone. If Propecia has impacted you this much you probably do have low T and can get a script. Low Testosterone is not good. No sex drive, depression and negatively impacted cholesterol profiles to name a few. Getting a prescription so you can have normal testosterone levels will seriously have no adverse side effects, you will feel normal again and your sex drive will be back to where it used to be if not higher.
This medication has ruined my life…..:( And what’s gonna happen….might get a check for 900.00……nothing could replace what I have lost….ruined…….ruined……everything is just ruined….:( I’m sure forever……it’s been ten years…I have given up on a sexual relationship……I will be alone for the rest of my life pretty much……I wish I never took Propecia……I’m bald anyway…..and my junk doesn’t work and I have a hard time remembering anything…..:( Do not take this medication……take it from me……please!!!!! Not worth it…..:(
