Laboratory Corp. of America (Labcorp) agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims it violated California and Pennsylvania wiretapping laws by tracking website visitors.

The Labcorp settlement benefits all persons in California and Pennsylvania who conducted search queries on Labcorp’s website from May 1, 2021, to April 1, 2026.

The class action lawsuit alleged Labcorp violated California and Pennsylvania wiretapping laws by facilitating the interception of personally identifiable information and searches that users conducted on Labcorp’s website through third-party tracking technologies.

Labcorp denies these and all other allegations of wrongdoing and liability as well as all claims asserted against it.

Labcorp is a laboratory that offers testing services to doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and other organizations. The company has locations all over the country.

The class action settlement does not provide monetary compensation to class members. If the settlement is approved, class members will give up the right to sue Labcorp and other affiliated entities for injunctive relief claims arising out of allegations made in the complaint.

However, the settlement requires Labcorp to not use or enable certain tracking technologies on its website for two years, conduct an annual review and prepare a compliance report demonstrating that it is not using technologies prohibited by the settlement.

Labcorp is also required to create or maintain a written policy regarding the appropriate use of externally developed tracking technologies on its website and designate a senior employee responsible for overseeing compliance with the above terms.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 23, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the Labcorp settlement is scheduled for Dec. 14, 2026.

No claim form is required to benefit from the settlement.
