Furniture Mart USA agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims that it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach that compromised sensitive consumer information.
The Furniture Mart USA settlement benefits individuals whose personal information was potentially compromised in the Furniture Mart USA data breach in November 2024.
According to the data breach class action lawsuit, Furniture Mart USA failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures that could have prevented a 2024 data breach. The breach reportedly compromised sensitive consumer information, such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
Furniture Mart USA is a furniture retailer with locations in South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota.
Furniture Mart USA has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Furniture Mart USA settlement, class members can receive up to $4,500 for documented losses related to the data breach. This reimbursement covers expenses such as identity theft, credit fees, fraudulent charges and more. Class members can also receive up to $100 for four hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour.
Class members who did not experience any documented losses or lost time can receive a one-time payment of $75.
All class members, regardless of whether they experienced losses or lost time, can receive three years of free credit monitoring services through CyEx Identity Defense Complete.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 5, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Furniture Mart USA settlement is scheduled for Nov. 9, 2026.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 3, 2026.
