Update:

  • The court granted this settlement final approval on Oct. 16, 2023.

Church & Dwight agreed to a $2.5 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that Batiste dry shampoo products are contaminated with benzene, a human carcinogen.

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased one or more Batiste dry shampoo products before May 30, 2023.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Batiste dry shampoo was contaminated with benzene, a known human carcinogen linked to leukemia and other blood diseases. Consumers claim Church & Dwight had a duty to ensure its Batiste dry shampoo products were not contaminated with dangerous ingredients such as benzene.

Batiste is a dry shampoo brand owned by Church & Dwight, which has been featured by Glamour, Vogue, BuzzFeed, Insider and more.

Church & Dwight hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $2.5 million settlement to resolve the benzene class action lawsuit.

Class members can receive either a cash payment or purchase vouchers based on the number and type of products they purchased.

Under the terms of the class action lawsuit, Class members who purchased Batiste Bare and Clean or Batiste Light Bare products and can provide proof of purchase can receive a full refund for the products they purchase. Consumers who purchased Batiste may also be interested in hair care products from Seen.

Class members who purchased Bare products but cannot provide proof of purchase can receive up to $2 per product purchased and claim up to five products, for a maximum payment of $10, according to the class action lawsuit settlement agreement.

Class members who purchased Batiste products other than Bare products can receive a $2 product voucher for each purchased product. Class members can claim up to five products and receive up to $10 in product vouchers.

Cash payments and voucher values may be increased or reduced on a pro rata basis depending on the number of claims filed.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 16, 2023.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2023.

In order to receive settlement payments, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 15, 2023.

    Attention Class Members !
Look at your Confirmation. If there is a “Yes ” that you are providing Proof and on the Initial Claim Form you Check for No Proof for the $10.00 on Bare Products there was a Glitch in the programing that I brought to their attention and they fixed mine manually and conmfirmed mine is valid. So Contact them !!

If you have not received your check within 30 days of the date of distribution, please send another email to this inbox so we can investigate.

I received email today (3/1/24) that my claim was denied. “Your claim was determined to be ineligible. If you feel this determination has been made in error, please reach out to the administrator at the email below.” So, I did email them…twice. I was given 3 different reasons as to why I was determined ineligible. This is a scam for the attorney’s big payout. They collected so many claims to add to their pot. Bottom line after emailing? Basically, that was their final decision.

  4. TLM says:

According to the last email I received from the Admin, they are looking into the Glitch. It’s been referred to the Support Team and they are Manually fixing my Claim. I recommend emailing them

  5. TLM says:

I got the same email and currenty discussing the issue with them.
    email sent to them:
There is a Glitch in your Online Claim Process. When I clicked on No Proof for the Intial Claim, the Confirmation comes back with:

“I am enclosing Proof of Purchase of one or more Bare™ Products. ”
    Yes”

I went to the Website to try to correct this and the same thing happens. I am only trying to Claim 5 Bare Products for a $10.00 Paypal Payment as stated in the Settlement:

” Class members who purchased Bare products but cannot provide proof of purchase can receive up to $2 per product purchased and claim up to five products, for a maximum payment of $10, according to the class action lawsuit settlement agreement. ”

    See Attched Confirmations. Notice Date.

      What a scam!
Received email asking for documentation for my claim, when the website said it wasn’t necessary for claiming 5 products.

  6. allmail says:

I got a similar email saying my claim as deficient saying proof of purchase is needed when the FAQ says otherwise

  7. CHRISTINE M BALTIS says:
