Baptist Health agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims that a 2024 data breach compromised patient information.
The Baptist Health class action settlement benefits individuals whose private information was potentially compromised in the 2024 Baptist Health data breach.
According to a class action lawsuit, the Baptist Health data breach allegedly compromised patient names, addresses, birth dates, treatment information and other data. Affected patients argue that Baptist Health could have prevented the breach through reasonable cybersecurity measures.
Baptist Health is a private, faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare system with medical centers across Arkansas.
Baptist Health has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Baptist Health class action settlement, class members can receive up to $400 in out-of-pocket expenses related to the data breach. This reimbursement covers credit-related expenses, ID replacement costs, postage and other documented losses.
Class members can also separately claim up to four hours of lost time — such as changing passwords, checking accounts or researching the data incident — at a rate of $20 per hour for a maximum lost time payment of $80.
If class members experienced fraud or identity theft as a result of the Baptist Health data breach, they can claim up to $4,000 in losses with supporting documentation.
All class members are eligible for two years of one-bureau credit monitoring services. This benefit includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, real-time credit file monitoring, dark web scanning and more.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 9, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Baptist Health class action settlement is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2027.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Dec. 8, 2026.
