John Deere agreed to a $99 million class action settlement to resolve claims it violated antitrust laws by withholding repair tools for its large agricultural equipment.
The John Deere settlement benefits consumers who purchased repair services for Deere large agricultural equipment from John Deere or its authorized dealers between Jan. 10, 2018, and May 18, 2026.
According to the antitrust lawsuit, John Deere violated federal antitrust laws by withholding certain repair tools from customers and independent repair providers. As a result, customers were allegedly forced to pay more for repairs than they would have in a competitive market.
John Deere is an agricultural equipment manufacturer that sells products such as tractors, harvesters and more.
John Deere has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay a $99 million class action settlement to resolve the antitrust lawsuit.
The total value of the John Deere settlement is estimated to be between $392.9 million and $747 million when including the value of injunctive relief.
Under the terms of the John Deere settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the number of labor hours their large agricultural equipment was repaired during the class period. Class members who had a larger number of labor hours expended on their equipment will receive a larger share of the net settlement fund.
The settlement also includes injunctive relief that will benefit all class members. John Deere agreed to provide customers and independent repair providers with access to the digital tools needed for the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of Deere large agricultural equipment.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 4, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the John Deere settlement is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2027.
To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Dec. 31, 2026.
