Simplilearn agreed to a $3 million class action settlement to resolve claims it violated the federal Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) by sharing user data with third parties without consent.

The Simplilearn settlement benefits individuals who accessed or used the Simplilearn platform in the United States between Feb. 26, 2023, and Sept. 16, 2026. This includes anyone who visited, browsed, viewed or otherwise interacted with any portion of the Simplilearn platform, regardless of whether they registered for or created an account, subscribed, made any purchase, logged in or requested, obtained or viewed any video.

According to a class action lawsuit, Simplilearn violated the VPPA by disclosing user data to third parties without consent. The plaintiff in the case says that he and other users of the Simplilearn platform have their privacy rights violated when the company shared their information with third parties.

Simplilearn is a digital learning platform that offers courses on various topics, including data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, digital marketing, project management, IT and more.

Simplilearn has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $3 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.

Under the terms of the Simplilearn settlement, class members can receive a cash payment. Exact payment amounts will vary depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement and the net settlement fund after deductions for fees and costs.

The deadline to opt out of or object to the class action settlement is Dec. 15, 2026.

A final approval hearing for the Simplilearn VPPA violation settlement is scheduled for Jan. 26, 2027.

The deadline to submit a claim is Dec. 15, 2026.
