Are you a merchant who has used a Square credit card reader to process a transaction?

If so, you may be eligible to join a free Square payment fees class action lawsuit investigation.

Unreasonably high fees have been allegedly imposed on merchants who use a Square credit card reader, according to a payment fees class action lawsuit filed in April 2021.

The merchants who filed the class action allege that the credit card processing fees violated antitrust and unfair competition laws and caused them to lose money.

Square Payment Fees Class Action Lawsuit

A group of four merchants filed a class action lawsuit in April 2021 on behalf of themselves and other businesses in certain states that accept payment with Square’s services.

They claim that the credit card processing fee is imposed as part of a price-fixing agreement among banks.

“The Interchange fee is purely a toll that the credit-card issuing banks, in a collective exercise of monopoly power, decided to levy on each credit card transaction,” according to the Square class action lawsuit.

This class action lawsuit is asking the court to direct the credit card giants to change their rules restraining credit card surcharging. The plaintiffs are seeking the maximum amount of monetary relief allowed under the applicable state statutes.

I own a towing and roadside business and square has held and taken money from me after proving services was completed in full. I have pictures and videos to prove all transactions were completed.

I use square for everything such as payroll, bills, payments, everyday. This past week I sent out several invoices like I do every week. Once payments were made they froze my account for review again like they do every single week. Only difference this time is they froze it and than deactivated it the same day. Now telling me I have to wait 120 days to be issued the money but cant get anyone on the phone to tell me why all of a sudden they deactivated my account and cant support my business when they have had no problems supporting it until now. Every dollar I have to my name is on square. I don’t use any other bank accounts or anything. Now I have $20 to my name and have 2 babies that need diapers and bills to be paid and payroll to be paid and I cant do any of that because square is holding all of my money. Worse decision I ever made as a business owner was conducting business with square. They are a bunch of crooks and thieves! I will be looking into taking legal action and even an independent arbitration.

I own a plumbing company and bill the contractors through invoice for payment. I use square for everything such as payroll, bills, payments, everyday life. My wife used them as well for her business too. This past week I sent out several invoices like I do every week. I am a new small independent used car dealership in Washington State. I sold a vehicle to a customer in August of 2022 it was a buy here pay here deal. Vehicle sold as is, buyers guide, retail installment contract and agreement to accept delivery of the vehicle was done and signed by the customer with a down payment of $4,500. The customer made their first month’s payment no issues, the next month they were 21 days past due and out for repossession I spoke with the customer they ended up paying for the vehicle in full and released the title. Mid November I get an email from square that the customer made a dispute with their bank for the down payment of $4,500 and withdrew the funds for my account. I spoke with square they asked for all the documentation I had on the vehicle and provided that information over, a signed retail installment contract, a as is buyers guide, an agreement to accept delivery and square told me that should be good enough to win the dispute. Sqaure stated that it should be resolved by January 21st, 2023. On January 16th I received an email stating that the dispute went into the customers favor and returned the $4,500 down payment. Breach of contract has been done by Sqaure and the customers bank and they expect me to just take that. NO Square is not above the law neither is the customers bank they have no authority to breach a contract and steal money from my account. Now I am out $4,500 and the customer gets a free car registered and titled to their name. Customer service was no help when I called, they kept telling me to wait for a resolution and stated I have all proper documents to win. I am definitely seeking legal matters to go after Square, the customers bank, and the customer for breach of contract and fraud. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SQUARE TO ANY BUSINESS STAY AWAY!

Square is nothing short of organized crime with hentchmen answering phones. They hold legitimate sales and once they release funds if you leave money in square account the next time you run a card they will rehold your money. Square debit card is just as criminal. I made purchase at Home Depot and returned item same day it’s already listed on square app but there holding funds 10days if it’s not there in 10 days contact retailer. Home Depot does instant refunds with debit cards with any time of account PayPal card bank card cash app card. They say some bs about first step in process they don’t have money when we all know. Voided transaction like mine means the money never left square and I’m waiting ten days for it to be returned meanwhile same transaction with PayPal was instant. It’s my theory that this is how there offering loans loan sharking out hard earned money. There’s a special place in hell for criminals. There employees that do there bidding are just as guilty is there a class action lawsuit I can join

I didn’t know Square created found bank and started my businesses with this bank. Now after a deposit made and used this month. I’m having complications with the app to login. I’m told it’s because I have two which one has my social security number and the other has my Ein which can used as my second social security number as stated on the IRS.gov website for business use. Also, Square hated back my account in 2019 and paid my money to someone else worth over $1,030,015.00 dollars. When I found the bank named found bank it worked for me and advertises square, Venmo, PayPal and cash app to pay and receive money. Square owe me money from my homeschool profits. Contact me. I want in on this mass lawsuit.
