IED EFP terrorist attack Anti-Terrorism Act soldiers

A Pensacola law firm is filing a terrorist attack lawsuit, joining a coalition of other attorneys filing legal action against the country of Iran. This terrorist attack lawsuit is being filed on behalf of 34 families, who were either injured or lost a loved one due to bombings and other terrorist attacks.

This federal terrorist attack lawsuit was filed recently in the District of Columbia, and is seeking monetary damages for injured veterans, their families, and Gold Star families who have been affected by these terrorist attacks.

The families involved in the terrorist attack lawsuit were impacted by any of “16 separate acts of international terrorism that occurred throughout Iraq between approximately Nov. 9, 2004, and Nov. 20, 2009.”

The terrorist attack lawsuit alleges Iran had provided funding, munitions, training, supplies, advisers, and other forms of support to a barrage of terrorist organizations operating in the Middle East including: Hezbollah, Ansar al-Islam and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.

Over the last few decades, federal legislators have approved different laws that makes it easier for United States citizens who were affected by terrorist attacks to pursue justice from different countries.

Overview of Terrorist Attack Lawsuit

The lawyers involved in this recent terrorist attack lawsuit described the litigation as a new way to hinder terrorism by “drying up their money.”

While the lawyers also acknowledged the difficulty in pursuing damages against Iran for terrorist attacks, it was not too different from bringing charges against big corporations for fraud or racketeering. The main points of evidence would stem from research and documentation, with forensic experts needing to trace where the money came form in the world.

Currently, nine European Banks had admitted to providing illegal funds to Iran and Iranian banks. In a different terrorist attack lawsuit, London based HSBC Holdings bank had agreed to pay $1.25 billion for alleged illicit funds. In the litigation against Iran, different legal experts will work with researchers to provide solid arguments for the oncoming litigation.

Officials also believe approximately 36,000 United States casualties that occurred during Operation Iraqi Freedom, could potentially stem from Iranian funded terrorists.

Attorneys involved in this current terrorist attack lawsuit stated that this case is important for helping American citizen realize they can pursue legal action and enforce accountability on the different parties involved in the terrorist attacks.

The lawyers further stated that the hope was for bankers that allegedly helped Iran with illicit funds would face criminal charges and severe civil penalties, and that the bankers allegedly ignored the fact that their actions would cost lives.
