A new class action lawsuit alleges T-Mobile failed to provide $200 promotional gift cards as promised to customers who purchased new phone lines.

Plaintiff Purya Ghrabeti filed the class action complaint against T-Mobile USA Inc. on Nov. 12 in California state court, alleging violations of the state’s consumer protection laws.

According to the class action lawsuit, T-Mobile advertised a promotion offering $200 gift cards for each new phone line purchased. However, after customers made qualifying purchases, T-Mobile allegedly failed to honor the promotion.

Ghrabeti claims he was induced to purchase additional phone lines based on T-Mobile’s promise of $200 gift cards per line. After making the purchase, however, he says he was informed that the promotion did not exist and that the company would not provide the promised gift cards.

The class action lawsuit alleges T-Mobile engaged in false advertising and deceptive business practices by promoting a gift card offer it did not intend to fulfill.

T-Mobile class action claims customers were misled by false advertising

Ghrabeti claims T-Mobile’s promotional offer was confirmed by a store representative at the time of purchase, and that he later discovered similar complaints from other consumers who also did not receive the promised gift cards.

The class action lawsuit alleges T-Mobile’s conduct constitutes false advertising under California law, and that the company’s actions were part of a broader scheme to induce customers to make purchases based on non-existent promotions.

Ghrabeti is seeking to represent a class of California consumers who purchased new phone lines or devices from T-Mobile based on a promotional offer promising a gift card or other financial incentive and who did not receive the promised incentive.

He is demanding a jury trial and is seeking restitution, equitable relief and injunctive relief for himself and the proposed class.

Currently, T-mobile is still facing other claims that it switched cell phone plans to more expensive ones without customer consent despite a life-long plan guarantee.
