Southern Telecom is recalling nearly 48,700 Brookstone-branded tabletop fire pits due to significant safety concerns that could lead to severe burn injuries or even death.

The recall notice was published on Aug. 13 and involves fire pit models BSFIREPIT01, BSFIREPIT02 and BSFIREPIT03 using UPCs 680079015930, 680079015947 and 680079015954, respectively. The products feature a concrete reservoir designed to hold burning liquid alcohol.

The fire pits, manufactured in China, were sold at prices ranging from $20 to $25 at various retailers, including Macy’s, Marshalls and T.J. Maxx, as well as online platforms like Macys.com, between February 2023 and December 2024.

The tabletop fire pits pose risks of uncontrolled fires and flame jetting from fuel containers, according to the recall notice.

“Use of the fire pits can result in uncontrolled pool fires where flames burn across the surface of pooled or spilled alcohol, as well as flame jetting from fuel containers, resulting in serious or fatal burns,” the Brookstone recall states.

Recalled defective tabletop fire pits linked to two burn injuries

The recall comes after Southern Telecom received two reports of incidents involving flame jetting and flames escaping from the fire pits, which resulted in injuries. These incidents included second- and third-degree burns, highlighting the severe risks associated with these products.

Consumers are urged to stop using the tabletop fire pits immediately and to contact Southern Telecom for a full refund.

The company advises consumers to email a photo of the fire pit marked as “Recalled,” along with their name and the date, to [email protected]. Once documented, the product should be disposed of safely.

For further information, consumers can reach Southern Telecom toll-free at 877-832-3822, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET. Additional details are available on its website under the “Recall” section.

Southern Telecom says it has received two reports of injuries related to the Brookstone recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
