Consumers have filed a class action against a supplement maker alleging that their SeroVital “anti-aging miracle” is falsely advertised as being able to increase human growth hormone levels by 682 percent, reduce wrinkles, strengthen bones, and increase sex drive.

Lead plaintiff Raul Pizana recently filed the class action against SanMedica International LLC alleging that their SeroVital-hgh supplement is marketed with false claims.

The company allegedly advertises the supplement as an “anti-aging miracle,” but the supplement does not deliver on any of the claims.

“In short, the product is no more effective for its advertised purposes than a placebo, and is therefore worthless to California consumers who, upon information and belief, have collectively expended tens of millions of dollars or more on the product during the proposed four-year class period,” the SeroVital-hgh class action lawsuit states.

According to the class action, SanMedica claims that SeroVital can make consumers “look and feel decades – not years, but decades – younger” by increased human growth hormone levels. The hormone levels are allegedly associated with “Youthful Skin Integrity*, Lean Musculature*, Elevated Energy Production*, [and] Adipose Tissue Distribution.”

However, Pizana claims that a private investigation into the supplement’s effectiveness showed that SeroVital does not deliver on the dramatic claims it advertises.

The plaintiff says he hired endocrinology experts Dr. Shlomo Melmed and Dr. David H. Madoff, who allegedly found that the supplement cannot increase human growth hormone levels by 682 percent or provide other benefits. Dr. Melmed is the head of Cedars Sinai Medical Center’s pituitary department in Los Angeles and Dr. Madoff is a professor at The John Hopkins University School of Medicine.

The SeroVital-hgh anti-aging class action states that multiple studies have reached the same conclusion as Pizana’s professional study. Pizana also states that the Federal Trade Commission made a statement that human growth hormone supplements, such as SeroVital, do not have the same effect as prescription human growth hormone injections.

The SeroVital-hgh false advertising class action lawsuit also claims that SanMedica’s own study shows that the supplement is no better than a placebo. The company allegedly highlights aspects of their own studies to give consumers a false impression of the supplement’s effectiveness. Pizana says that SanMedica did not publish their study in a peer-reviewed journal to avoid further scrutiny.

“Incredibly, upon information and belief, Defendants have sold tens of millions of dollars or more worth of the Product to California consumers based upon the false promises and misleading advertisements described herein,” the SeroVital class action lawsuit states.

Pizana seeks to represent a Class of California residents who purchased SeroVital since May 9, 2014. The class action seeks punitive damages, restitution, disgorgement, court costs, and attorneys’ fees.

Pizana is represented by Ryan J. Clarkson, Shireen M. Clarkson and Bahar Sodaify of Clarkson Law Firm PC and Annick M. Persinger of Tycko & Zavareei LLP.

The SeroVital Anti-Aging Miracle Class Action Lawsuit is Pizana v. SanMedica International LLC, et al., Case No. 1:18-cv-00644, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.

Hi owns it companies can sell products to us that are harmful and doesn’t do what they claim and who holds these people accountable and who monitors these companies and there claims should be tested and proven before it ever introduced and there should be a watcher who watches these companies an ethical and moral board who looks out for humanity and protects them from harm and to avoid another DuPont scam.

  2. Kimberly Johnson says:

In 2016 I started taking Serovital HGH looking for the “fountain of youth” it promised. In February I had a mammogram which was clear. By November I had a 7mm tumor with a 4mm satelite tumor behind it, and because the larger tumor was invasive, cancer had spread to my lymph nodes. My cancer was Estrogen+, Progesterone- and HER2+, meaning it was completely hormone fed. I have no family history of breast cancer and my genetic testing showed zero markers for any type of cancer. I have always believed that the HGH either caused or contributed to the aggressive cancer that I had. After a full year of chemo, surgery and radiation, I am now cancer free, thank God. But I will never put any faith in supplements again!

If there is still a class action lawsuit, feel free to contact me to discuss, I might consider joining.

I just got noticed that the fecal test came back positive for cancer. Will now need a colonoscope. Have been taking sero vital for for at least 5 years.

  4. Jay Andre says:

I suffered severe debilitating side effects from taking serovital. Initial raising of serotonin levels led to a phase of psychological Mania which lasted for months. After that the benefits all tapered off and I tilted over into a severe depression. SeroVital works by manipulating your pituitary gland to produce more HGH right? Well I now have a 5 mm nodule on mine which has evolved into an ACTH hormone producing tumor which basically floods my body with cortisol 24/7. In a constant state of fear and panic. Wish I could hold this company responsible. Feel free anyone to contact me for my full experience. 702 771-9979.

I’ve probably taken it for four or five years. I haven’t had any noticeable side effects. I decided a couple of weeks ago that it must work when I compared myself to my two sisters, one three years young, the other a year and a half. I look close to ten years younger than they do. Granted I’ve always had a better diet. But I don’t doubt it an expensive placebo-especially costly considering how long I’ve been buying it. Tried to buy a monthly supply at Costco yesterday, I was told it had been recalled. Saved a hundred bucks!

I took this supplement for three years and I believe it has caused major health effects in my life. I wrote the company once but never received a response back. I will never regain complete health back. I believe the afflictions I now have are due to serovital.

  8. Sharlene Couture says:

I had breast cancer within 3 months of starting sero vital in 2016. Now I am in Stage 4 metestatic breast cancer and don’t know how long I have to live. They need to pay for this.

  9. Sandie Zimmerman Bell says:

I believe taking Serovital HGH for over a year has caused health problems I did not have prior.
In fact, when I looked up the side effects of taking HGH, it read as a list of what I currently now am inflicted with

Hey everybody, my wife fell victim to this crap too! But honestly I think that the suits that are filed were filed in error, it should be product liability for the cause of RA and the other disease onsets that I’ve seen you post.

    1. Sandie Zimmerman Bell says:

I now have several afflictions that did not have prior to taking Serovital HGH.
