Claims of Samsung washer rust have left many owners of top-loading washing machines seeking a legal remedy.
Consumers have reported that Samsung top-loading washing machines have rusted prematurely, causing consumers financial damage due to the financial loss of purchasing the machine, and damage done to clothes as a result of the damaged washer.
Many consumers are claiming that Samsung is refusing to repair or replace machines that develop Samsung washer rust. They say the premature rusting on these machines causes them to fail long before they’ve reached their expected service life.
One Samsung owner claims that she purchased a Samsung top-loading washing machine in 2013, and that by 2017, the washer was so rusted that it could no longer effectively clean clothes, and would damage the clothes in the washing process. The consumer claims that Samsung technicians denied her claim that the rust was a functional issue, arguing that the rust was merely a “cosmetic issue.”
The consumer claims that she was financially damaged by Samsung and the rusting washer because her clothing was damaged by the rust, which caused her to have to buy new clothing and spend her money to wash her clothes in a laundromat. Additionally, she claims that she was financially injured because she paid more for the Samsung washing machine because she thought it was of good quality. In fact, she claims, it turned out not to be worth what she paid for it.
In November 2016, Samsung instituted a voluntary recall of some of their top-loading washing machines made between March 2011 and October 2016, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The company claimed that the devices were defective because the washer drum would lose balance, causing excessive vibrations that would in turn cause the top of the wash to separate from the rest of the machine.
Samsung allegedly claimed that the problem occurred when the machine was used on high speeds, like for bedding, bulky items, or water-resistant items. Allegedly, the problem with the drum balance could also cause injury to consumers, as the machine could hit the consumer when it fell off balance.
As part of the 2017 recall, consumers were reportedly offered a free, in-home repair for the machine, including reinforcement of the washer, and an extension of their warranty with the repair. Or, consumers could allegedly choose a rebate towards the purchase of a new washer as their compensation.
Many consumers claim that the actual problems with the washing machines were not addressed in the Samsung recall and that the company actively avoided claims of defects related to rust. Allegedly, the 2017 recall did nothing to address the rust issues. Owners say the company allegedly refused to acknowledge rust issues, and technicians refused to fix rust issues as part of the recall,
If your top-loading Samsung washing machine rusted prematurely and was subject to the Samsung washer rust recall, you may have a legal claim.

I purchased a Samsung top loading washing machine and front loading dryer. On December 18 2018 with a 5yr extended warranty. I had numerous issues with the dryer finally got a refund. Now I m having issues with the washer it doesnt drain the water out completely at times. Also its rusting inside leaving a big hole. I was on the phone where I have the waranty through .They said not covered. I spoke with different associates from samsung. On the phone for a long time. To no avail. They said they would charge to have someone come out to service. I would be charged. Its still under warranty until December 18 2023. I dont know what to do. Im so frustrated

I have a Samsung clothes washer that has rust, there’s a big hole next to the bleach dispenser and it’s putting rust stains on my clothes; the model number is WA50M7450AW/A4, manufactured on March 2017
We purchased our Samsung top load washer 4 years ago. After only one year the rust had caused a large hole on the bleach dispenser. Appliance repair people refuse to deal with issue. I have used auto body type repairs…ie Bondo and reinforcements of metal. The rust keeps returning requiring additional reinforcement. I have had enough and need to purchase another washer . Can we get involved in lawsuit to receive compensation for Samsungs negligence? We purchased at Lowes and took photos of rust holes I repaired. Thank you.
