Unum-Denied-DisabilityA North Carolina radiologist denied disability benefits by Unum recently filed a lawsuit against the insurance company, claiming he was wrongfully denied.

The radiologist denied disability benefits by Unum, David W., claims that this denial of benefits is a breach of contract. According to the lawsuit, David was insured against injury or sickness.

While on this insurance policy, the plaintiff was forced to stop working as a radiologist due to degenerative disc disease.

This condition prevents David from fully performing his duties as a radiologist, including but not limited to highly intricate procedures and reading radiology films and scans.

The plaintiff’s condition causes intense pain, muscles spasms, and limitation of motion.

According to the lawsuit, David cannot function without taking various medications, which impair his cognition, concentration, and vision. The conditions of the disease and medication side effects prevent David from being able to perform his duties as a radiologist.

Despite the legitimacy of his insurance claim, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff was denied his rightful benefits on May 13, 2015.

David has exhausted all available administrative routes to reclaim the disability benefits denied him, and so has turned to his last available approach: filing a Unum disability insurance lawsuit.

Through the disability benefits lawsuit, the plaintiff requests Unum pay the benefits due him through the plan, as well cover the costs of attorneys’ fees and other costs as the court sees fit.

Filing a Unum Disability Benefits Lawsuit

Unum Life Insurance Company of America, also known as Unum, is the single largest disability insurance company in the United States.

Despite the widespread nature of the company and the number of customers insured by it, a growing number of plaintiffs are filing disability benefits lawsuits against Unum, claiming that the company unfairly denied their claims to benefits that they qualify for under the terms of their insurance policies.

This Unum long-term disability benefits lawsuit and others like it allege that the company has purposely denied the claims of hundreds of thousands of workers with legitimate disabilities, including the radiologist denied disability benefits by Unum in this lawsuit.

Consumers who have exhausted all administrative recourse through applications and appeals for disability benefits may choose to file a long-term disability benefits lawsuit, hoping to reverse Unum’s denial of benefits.

If you or someone you love has been denied their proper disability benefits by Unum Life Insurance Company of America, you may be able to file a Unum long-term disability benefits lawsuit.

Filing a lawsuit can help a disabled plaintiff gain their rightful disability benefits in the future, as well as reimburse them for the benefits wrongfully denied them in the past.
