Talcum Powder and Ovarian Cancer Lawsuit Product Facts
According to the talcum powder and ovarian cancer lawsuit, Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder has been used by consumers for ages. Although it was primarily marketed to prevent rash on babies, since the product’s arrival on the market, women have used the product throughout their daily hygiene routine.
As alleged in this complaint filed at Johnson & Johnson, several women have purported that they have become diagnosed with ovarian cancer from their use of the product.
The risk of ovarian cancer is linked to talc, the primary ingredient in Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower. The baby powder product is composed of talc, a material comprised of magnesium, oxygen, and silicone. Researchers believe talc may be causing women to become diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Kathy and other cancer patients like her allege Johnson & Johnson knew of this risk but failed to notify the public and consumers. They allegedly knew of these risks for many years. Plaintiffs claim the company even knew of these risks but failed to disclose them in an effort to raise and drive up revenue and sales.
Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is one of the more dangerous forms of cancer, since it is most often not discovered until late in its development. There are roughly 200,000 cases that are reported every year. And although symptoms in the cancer’s early stages are hard to see, some later symptoms include: loss of appetite and weight loss.
The Talcum Powder and Ovarian Cancer is Case No. 8:17-cv-02665-JSM-TGW, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.
