old spice class action

Old Spice, a deodorant known for its comical commercials and distinctive scent, is now at the center of controversy as many consumers are complaining that the product causes severe rashes and chemical burns.

Not only have consumers shared their experiences with Old Spice deodorants, some have opted to pursue legal action.

At least one class action lawsuit has been filed against Old Spice manufacturer, Procter & Gamble.

The Old Spice class action lawsuit was filed in Ohio federal court on behalf of “thousands of unsuspecting consumers” who were affected by Old Spice deodorant rash.

According to the lead plaintiff Rodney Colley, a resident of Virginia, he suffered the Old Spice deodorant rash after using the Old Spice product just a few times.

The lawsuit has also included images that show the severity of the rashes and burns allegedly caused by the Old Spice branded products.

Rodney also cites several online complaints, similar to the ones above, that were posted against Old Spice by consumers in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Washington, Arizona, and Ohio.

These complaints also talk about Old Spice deodorants causing rashes, chemical “burns” and severe, painful chafing.

The Old Spice lawsuit calls out multiple Old Spice products:

  • Old Spice After Hours
  • Champion
  • Pure Sport High Endurance
  • Arctic Force High Endurance
  • Bearglove
  • Lion Pride
  • Swagger
  • Fresh High Endurance
  • Aqua Reef
  • Classic Fresh
  • Fiji

Old Spice Complaints

Colley is not the only consumer to target Old Spice specifically for allegedly damaging their skin. Hundreds of consumer complaints listed online, some of which claim they had Old Spice deodorant rash after using the product.

On the first page of complaints, there are four references to “chemical burns,” and several people posted pictures of the alleged trauma.

Kevin of Charlotte, NC stated that:

“After 3 to 4 days of use of this Old Spice High Endurance product, my underarms are severely burned. My skin is red and purple. Very irritated, I went to emergency and was placed on two antibiotics, and a steroids. I have a discharge creating cracks, and more irritation under my arms due to moisture. It is hard to work, having move my arms up and down and side to side. Whatever scab attempts, my skin breaks and is making the healing process difficult.”

Another Old Spice consumer, Carl of Spotsylvania, VA wrote:

“I used the product and had severe skin irritations that resulted in a bad chemical burn and eventually created pockets of staph. I eventually had to see a physician.”

And Ben of Rio Rancho, NM stated that:

“I have used Old Spice deodorant for years without any concerns. Recently a burn developed when using the pure sport. It has taken weeks to heal. It went thru a scab to a bruise looking stage. I am not quite sure if I purchased a bad batch as this has never occurred before. The burns are quite painful and have still not completely healed after about 4 weeks.”

If you used Old Spice deodorant and subsequently developed a severe rash or chemical burns, an attorney experienced in filing Old Spice Deodorant Rash lawsuits can review your case for free and advise you of your legal options.

  1. Alexa LaCroix says:

Months ago, I wanted to try a new deodorant, so I turned to Swagger by Old Spice and have been using it since. Over the last 7 months, I have had excruciating rashes on both armpits that tend to be itchy then burn terribly. I have seen my doctor twice asking for a remedy for this issue. I was prescribed two creams; both have not worked. She had advised me to change my deodorant because that might be causing the issue. Recently, I have seen Tik Tok videos that people who have used Old Spice are having the same issue as me.

  2. Kori Butterfield says:

I have severe chemical burns under both armpits, blistering and fevers for several days now. I’ve been sleeping with cold water bottles under both pits for a few nights now just to keep my fever and pain at a tolerable level. THIS IS HORRIBLE. I would love to show the process with pictures if possible. Nobody should have to deal with this pain

  3. Gerardo Urdiales says:

I also suffered burns and blisters as well as drainage coming out of my armpits after using Old Spice! Who can I contact? Has it been settled?

  4. Kevin Parrish says:

Am currently fighting a staph infection after using Old spice sport. Can hardly move my right arm. May have to see a doctor.

  5. James says:

I quit using their product almost a year ago because of this issue. Got my under arms, groin, hands and feet. Has this issue been resolved? I was using Old Spice Sport since 2009, no issue until about 8 months ago(have pic of arm pits).
