Nissan Accused of Tacking On Extra Bill Pay Fee

By John Curran

Nissan bill fee class action lawsuitIt is becoming standard practice for American consumers to receive bills that contain myriad small fees and surcharges that are in addition to the expected payments they owe. However, in the case of an ongoing Nissan Finance payment fee class action lawsuit investigation, eagle eyes may end up helping car loan borrowers.

Unlike some contracts, a car loan requires the lender to provide the person buying a car with an itemized list of charges as well as the total cost of borrowing. Some new car owners have seen that there is an additional Nissan Finance payment fee when they elect to reconcile their monthly bill either online or over the phone. Truth in lending violations may have occurred because of the disparity between what Nissan indicates is the processing charge and what the company involved, BillMatrix, actually charges the captive finance firm.

There is a reported difference of up to a $15 between what Nissan charges customers to pay online or over the phone and what BillMatrix charges them to pay their monthly bill. However, this is not the only instance of potentially unnecessary payments that consumers have made. Reviewing a monthly statement may bring a whole host of fees and add-on costs that are in contravention of truth in lending requirements, especially in installment contracts for services or borrowing.

Similar issues have been seen in home security contracts that do not have clearly outlined early termination fees as well as landmark cases regarding the same for cell phone service subscribers who bought a subsidized phone. Clarity in loan documents is an important goal both for consumers as well as companies.

For now, investigations are focused on the disparity between BillMatrix costs and a potential for a Nissan Finance payment fee class action lawsuit. It may end up that the Japanese automaker’s captive finance wing deceptively charged customers who financed a new car loan or lease through Nissan.

Any man or woman who has paid additional fees to Nissan Motors Acceptance Corporation when using online or phone-based submissions may want to consider legal options. The first step is to get a free consultation to establish one’s eligibility at the Nissan Finance Payment Fee Class Action Lawsuit Investigation. Any potential settlement could defray the costs of these payments and save consumers money. It is important to get started soon to avoid issues with statutes of limitations, so car owners should get a no-cost case review today.
