Fandango agreed to pay a $9.4 million class action settlement to resolve claims it failed to disclose mandatory convenience fees and violated laws regarding expiring promo codes.

The Fandango settlement benefits consumers who paid a convenience fee to purchase tickets through Fandango to California theaters between June 11, 2020, and June 17, 2024, as well as California and Washington consumers who purchased a Fandango FanClub membership between Oct. 7, 2024, and April 16, 2025.

Fandango is an online movie ticketing platform that allows consumers to purchase tickets to theaters in their area. The company also offers a subscription service, Fandango FanClub, that allows consumers to purchase tickets at a discounted rate.

According to a class action lawsuit, Fandango failed to disclose mandatory convenience fees when consumers purchased tickets through its website, allegedly surprising customers with extra charges added after they had already selected their tickets.

Another class action lawsuit claims Fandango’s FanClub subscription service violated California and Washington laws because the company allegedly offered monthly credits, discounts and promo codes that expired after 30 days without clearly disclosing the expiration terms.

Fandango has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $9.4 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.

Under the terms of the Fandango settlement, class members can receive either cash or vouchers.

Eligible Convenience Fee Class members who submit a valid claim may choose either a $3.25 cash payment or a $3.25 Fandango voucher, while FanClub Class members will automatically receive a $7.50 Fandango voucher. Those who qualify for both classes may receive the $7.50 voucher in addition to the $3.25 cash payment or voucher.

Vouchers can be used toward the purchase of movie tickets made at Fandango.com or via the Fandango app and cannot be redeemed directly at any theater box office. Vouchers cannot be stacked or combined with any other discount or offer and are not transferable.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 18, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the Fandango class action settlement is scheduled for Aug. 7, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Aug. 17, 2026.
