A patient who alleges that she suffered permanent chemo hair loss has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of Taxotere. Taxotere is a popular medication used in chemotherapy for breast cancer treatments, but many women have come forward to report permanent chemo hair loss.
Many of these women allege that they were never told about the risk of permanent chemo hair loss. Although hair loss is typically associated with the chemotherapy process, many women expect to ultimately be able to regrow their hair.
The permanent chemo hair loss lawsuit alleges numerous claims against the manufacturer of Taxotere, including negligence, fraud and deceit, fraudulent concealment, strict product liability, failure to warn and negligent misrepresentation.
Unfortunately, many different patients have suffered negative side effects associated with Taxotere. Taxotere is a chemo treatment that may be effective at treating the underlying cancer, but many women allege that they were never told about the risk of permanent chemo hair loss.
Taxotere is used to manage cancers of the stomach, lung, head, neck and prostate. It is one of the most popular medications to treat cancer today, but survivors may have to cope with serious side effects for years.
Those individuals who have suffered complications associated with Taxotere may be eligible to pursue compensation for damages, including medical bills. Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in which Taxotere is used.
With more than 300,000 new cases of breast cancer anticipated every single year and 3 million women in the United States already living with breast cancer, many of these breast cancer patients will ultimately be prescribed Taxotere. Up to 75%, in fact, use Taxotere as the chemotherapy drug for their treatment.
Although Taxotere has better outcomes in terms of performance, extending the survival for breast cancer patients, it comes with a serious side effect, and many of the patients who have suffered this side effect allege that they were never told about it.
These women have come forward to file lawsuits alleging that they and the medical community should have been told about the risk of permanent chemo hair loss. Alopecia may be disfiguring and can lead to long term psychological effects. Taxotere has also been connected to a number of other serious side effects, some of which are life threatening or have been associated with toxic death.
Those women who have suffered permanent hair loss associated with Taxotere have chosen to take legal action as a result of the side effects and the manufacturer’s alleged failure to warn them about the problems.
If you or someone you know have suffered permanent chemo hair loss, you may be eligible to participate in a class action investigation and may be able to pursue legal action against the manufacturer of the drug. Many other patients have already come forward with adverse event reports against the manufacturer.
