American Multispecialty Group Inc., which does business as Esse Health, has agreed to pay $2.5 million in a class action settlement to resolve claims that a cyberattack on its computer systems potentially compromised customer data.
The Esse Health settlement benefits all persons who were potentially impacted by a 2025 data incident, including all persons who were sent notice by Esse Health that their private information was potentially compromised during the data breach.
The class action lawsuit stems from a late April 2025 cyberattack where Esse Health detected unusual activity and potential unauthorized access on its IT network. The company determined that personally identifiable information and protected health information — which included names, addresses, dates of birth, health insurance information, Social Security numbers, identification numbers and certain health information — were potentially impacted.
Esse Health is a physician-owned, independent multispecialty medical group based in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Esse Health denies any wrongdoing or negligence but agreed to a $2.5 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.
Under the terms of the Esse Health settlement, class members can claim a one-time pro rata cash payment, which is expected to be approximately $50 but may vary based on the total number of claims filed. No proof or explanation is required to claim this cash payment.
Separately, all class members may enroll in two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete identity protection, which includes $1 million of medical identity theft insurance and specialized monitoring.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 5, 2026.
A final fairness hearing in the Esse Health data breach settlement will take place Aug. 3, 2026.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Aug. 4, 2026.
