The massive Takata airbag recall in the last couple of years has affected tens of millions of cars around the world.
Almost 180 automobile models and makes have qualified under the Takata airbag recall including those made by many of the country’s leading manufacturers of cars. To see a full list of makes and models affected by this massive airbag recall, visit the Takata airbag investigation page.
The airbag recall, including a Ford Mustang airbag recall, is one of the largest product recalls in modern history.
Just last year, automotive parts manufacturer Takata was forced into bankruptcy after the airbag recall which has included the Ford Mustang airbag among many other types of makes and models of cars.
One woman has filed a new Ford Mustang airbag lawsuit against both Ford and Takata, claiming that they are both responsible and liable for her injuries in her Ford Mustang.
Her Ford Mustang airbag lawsuit claims that plaintiff Tonya F. was the owner and operator of a 2006 Ford Mustang. During her ownership of her car in October 2016, Tonya was involved in a minor traffic collision. She was going less than 5 miles per hour on Highway 24 in Terrebonne Parish, La.
During this very low speed collision, the Ford Mustang airbag made by Takata “unexpectedly deployed with overly aggressive force so powerful that it forced [the plaintiff’s] arm into the driver’s side door.” According to her Ford Mustang airbag lawsuit, this caused extensive damage to Tonya’s left arm and elbow.
What makes this Ford Mustang airbag case even more alarming is that in January 2015, Tonya received a recall notice for her Ford Mustang airbag. When she got it, she took her car into the Ford dealership to get the Ford Mustang airbag replaced.
The dealership told her that the replacement airbags were not available from Takata and that she would have to wait until they were available to get her Ford Mustang airbag replaced. She was told she would have to wait to be notified.
She did not receive notification before her October 2016 crash. However, in June 2017, she received a second recall notice regarding the airbag that had already injured her.
She believes that it was because of the negligence of Ford, the dealership she went to and Takata itself that she suffered these injuries.
Her Ford Mustang airbag lawsuit claims that Takata was negligent in warning customers that the airbags could deploy at an alarming rate that would injure drivers and passengers and that the risk of injury from such a deployment was high. She believes that Takata failed to correct a known defect in their product.
Tonya holds Ford responsible for her injuries because they manufactured and distributed her Ford Mustang while knowing that safety issues associated with their vehicles. She believes that they should have adopted an alternative design and that they should have warned customers better about known risks.
This Ford Mustang Airbag Lawsuit is Case No. 2:17-cv-17116-SSV-DEK in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

My name is Ralph Rains from Williamsburg Kentucky,I was recently involved in a minor crash when tierod end came loose on my 2006 Ford Mustang, the airbag deployed with aggressive force, detaching from the steering wheel injuring my left arm,I am Scheduled to consult with a surgeon tomorrow morning 10-12-2020 .Shortly after the accident I received a recall notice from Ford.
I have a 2008 Mustang, original owner, and have the recall for the air bag. Can I be added?
I had a 2016 Ford Mustang, made one payment, and a deer ran out in front of me. I served, went off the road over corrected and went head on into an embankment. All airbags deployed except my driver side steering wheel causing me to break my nose. Ford never looked into because of course I turned it into my insurance. Is there anything I can do at this point?
