Great news for consumers who filed claims for the LCD indirect purchaser class action settlement: all appeals have been resolved and money could be distributed as early as September or October. Consumers and business who filed valid claims can expect to receive $25, $100, $200 or more based on the number of LCD flat screen TVs, monitors, and laptops they purchased between 1999 and 2006.
Rust Consulting, the Settlement Administrator for the LCD class action settlement, sent email notices yesterday advising claimants that the last of the appeals were dismissed on June 13, allowing Rust to move forward with concluding the necessary procedures to disperse rewards to eligible claimants.
“We are well along in the claim audit/verification process and currently expect that these activities will be completed by the end of August 2014. It is expected that Class Counsel will seek approval from the Court to disburse payment to Claimants soon thereafter. Payments will be sent to Claimants within two weeks of Court approval,” the announcement said.
Class Counsel and the State Attorneys General who joined the LCD settlement plan to request approval from the Court by Oct. 1, 2014, to distribute the funds.
Rust had originally estimated that it could take one to three years for the entire appeal process to finally be concluded.
What is the LCD Class Action Settlement?
The LCD settlement is part of a massive class action lawsuit that accused 10 LCD manufacturers of entering a price-fixing scheme to fix, maintain and raise the prices of LCD panels. The companies involved in the case are: Toshiba, LG, AU Optronics, Samsung, Sharp, Hitachi, Epson, Chimei, Chunghwa and HannStar.
Under the terms of the LCD price-fixing settlement, the companies will pay a combined $1.1 billion to consumers in 24 states and Washington, D.C. that purchased a laptop, computer monitor, or television with a flat-panel LCD display between Jan. 1, 1999 and Dec. 31, 2006 manufactured by one of these companies.
The deadline to file a claim for the LCD monitor class action settlement was Dec. 6, 2012. However, Class Counsel intends to recommend that the Court accept late claims submitted after the deadline until June 6, 2014.

Checks are based on type of product and how many you bought/claimed read the court order just updated 10/7/14. Final payment amount approved to claimants is 43.64 per computer/monitor/laptop bought, and 87.28 per television, this was court ordered using audit verification numbers from Rust Consulting who administers the payments to eligible claimants
I do love good news. Oct 17th for approval and the it will be about another two weeks before the distribution occurs we have all been patient this long lets all just go to the mail box. Good night!!!
Dear Claimant:
On July 24, 2014, you were sent an email advising you that all appeals in the LCD Indirect Purchaser Class Action Settlement had been dismissed and that the final steps necessary to disburse recoveries to Claimants were proceeding. This email is to provide you with an update on the status of these claim processing activities and the anticipated schedule for distributing checks. You will not receive any further email updates on the status of these procedures unless there is some significant unforeseen delay.
We have now completed the claim audit/verification process. Class Counsel and the Attorneys General submitted a motion seeking approval from the Court to disburse payments to Claimants. The Court is currently scheduled to consider the motion on October 17, 2014. After Court approval is granted, distribution checks will be mailed. It is anticipated that this will occur within four weeks of Court Approval.
You are being sent this email because you filed a claim. Receipt of this email does not mean that your claim has been deemed eligible. In the new update on here it says 16 million TV’s, laptops, monitors were claimed by 233,000 valid claims. That averages out to 68 ish items per claim. Now I know I only claimed 5 items, so some lying ass bastards are getting away with murder on there claims and knocking down the overall payout for the other people who put in honest numbers. The rest of you who lied and kiss my ass and choke on your checks. BTW hi Jennell, miss you!!!!!
I’m also in for 5. Do you think retailers are also in this claim?
The low payments are because they are allowing for late claims beyond what the judge originally consented…late claims were to be allowed up to Feb. 2013, not until Oct. 2014, everyone who filed claims prior to Dec 6, 2012 got the short end of the stick…to bad the court did not honor the rules in this case.
got email stating court date for distribution is oct 17 2014. if approved the checks should go out about a month later
I don’t understand if the distribution is in October or requesting in October if so that will be another couple of months before the distribution
The distribution of Settlement Funds is expected to occur later in the fall of 2014.
Wished we lived in an honest world
Me too…so tired of these people..just trying to get info
