The Las Vegas shooting compensation fund was set up soon after the mass shooting incident, which is supposed to provide financial assistance to people who sustained physical injuries and emotional trauma.

However, a number of victims have been reportedly denied by the Las Vegas shooting compensation fund for allegedly not being injured enough.

The Las Vegas shooting compensation fund consisted of $22 million, which was raised within days and weeks following the Route 91 Festival shooting incident. This money was supposed to be distributed to the thousands of victims who either sustained direct bullet wounds or who were trampled in the crowd when trying to escape the gunfire.

However, a number of victims have been reportedly turned down for allegedly “not being injured enough”, or had more emotional injuries like PTSD rather than physical injuries.

The Las Vegas shooting compensation fund typically caps compensation payments at $275,000, with these large distributions reserved for the loved ones of 58 victims who were killed, along with 10 victims reportedly suffering from permanent paralysis or brain injuries. Average compensation payments range between $17,500 to $200,000, which most commonly went to victims who suffered serious injuries.

It is important to note that the Las Vegas shooting compensation fund is different from crime victim funds, which were separately established. In addition to the Las Vegas shooting compensation fund, there have been separate funds established by different states to help accommodate the victims.

Overview of Different Compensation Funds

For example, victims from California can apply for the Las Vegas shooting compensation fund or the California Victim Compensation Fund to help with any expenses that incurred from the shooting. According to the California Victim Compensation Fund, approximately 14,000 out of the 22,000 attendees of the Route 91 Music Festival were from California.

The California Victim Compensation Fund is a crime compensation fund, meant to help victims of crime. Authorities of the compensation fund are currently working with its sister organization in Nevada, with the majority of the victims being from either state.

The California Victim Compensation Fund has reportedly received approximately 2,700 applications, with the number expected to go up. Nevada and California are not the only states with shooting victims, with representatives for the Nevada fund stating it has received a total of 4,477 applications from 45 different states and several from Canada.

It is important to note that states with established crime victim fund generally requires that the alleged crime to have occurred in the state in question, but the number of victims from the Las Vegas shooting has spurred the states to come together.

The Las Vegas shooting compensation fund and other victim funds can be used to cover a number of expenses related to medical injuries, but compensation payments can also be used for funeral expenses for the victims who died in the shooting.

Approximately 546 people were injured during the Las Vegas shooting, but numerous others were left with emotional and mental trauma that will most likely never recover.

Victims who sustained injuries from the Las Vegas shooting could potentially file legal action against the Mandalay Bay Hotel, MGM Resorts, and Live Nation, for allegedly failing to take adequate security measures or not responding fast enough to the situation.
