Baby ShampooIf you purchased Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo or Wal-Mart brand Equate Tearless Baby Wash, you may want to stop using it. A class action lawsuit has been approved this month that claims these products may contain a toxin linked to cancer.

The class action lawsuit, filed earlier this year, accuses Johnson & Johnson and Wal-Mart Stores of selling shampoo and baby wash that allegedly contains methylene chloride, an ingredient banned by the FDA in cosmetics because it’s linked to cancer. The law firm that filed the lawsuit is also investigating Target’s Night-time Bath and Body Wash, which is not currently named in the suit.

A third Johnson & Johnson plant is now also under investigation for alleged quality concerns. The new Johnson & Johnson plant is one that manufactures Pepcid and Mylanta among other products.

Just Sunday night my aunt was showing me her 4 year olds back and arms that are permanently scarred from using the Johnson & Johnson soap this past year. It’s bad scarring. Wonder how they can be added to this class action?

There are a number of alternatives to Johnson’s & Johnson’s. You can try Arbonne’s ABC Baby Care Line – these products are Vegan Certified, PETA approved and made from herbal and botanical ingredients. Visit arbonne.ca or aliyajackson.myarbonne.ca

Use California Baby products, or anything else that contains only ingredients you can pronounce. So glad I never put that stuff on my baby. Just because it’s what our parents used on us, doesn’t mean it’s the best.

Use natural products – not usually sold in stores – avoid parabens, 1,4 dioxane, synthetic fragrances, SLS, MIT, anything ending in “cone” and anything with a whole bunch of numbers in the ingredient name! If you aren’t sure check EWG database to check them out.8-)
