ford class action lawsuitA federal class action lawsuit claims multiple year models of Ford E-Series and F-Series pickup trucks have defective fuel tank linings that flake off and clog the fuel system, causing sudden loss of power.

The Ford defective fuel tank class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons in the United States who purchased or leased any of the following Ford pickup trucks:

2004-2007 Ford E-150
2004-2007 Ford E-250
2004-2007 Ford E-350
2004-2007 Ford E-450
1999-2008 Ford F-250 SD
1999-2008 Ford F-350 SD
2003, 2005-2008 Ford F-440 SD
2005-2008 F-550 SD
2004-2008 F-650 SD
2004-2008 F-750 SD

The class action lawsuit claims that since February 2007, if not before, Ford knew that the vehicles listed above and their fuel tanks contain numerous “distinct and serious” design and/or manufacturing defects that cause the inner fuel tank lining to separate and flake off, clogging the fuel systems with tank lining debris and rust, resulting in sudden loss of power to the engine and other critical systems.

Symptoms of the alleged Ford fuel tank defect include, but are not limited to, bucking and kicking, sudden loss of power steering, and sudden stalling, the class action lawsuit says.

As a result, the Class Vehicles and their fuel tanks present a safety hazard and are “unreasonably dangerous to drivers” because the defect can contribute to traffic accidents that can result in personal injury or death, the class action lawsuit says.

In addition to these safety hazards, owners of these Class Vehicles will be required to pay hundreds, and in many instances, thousands of dollars to both diagnose and repair the Ford fuel tank defect and the related damages it causes.

The Ford fuel tank defect class action lawsuit is seeking injunctive relief as well as actual, general, special, incidental, statutory, treble, punitive and consequential damages for the proposed Class of Ford owners.

The case is Galo Coba v. Ford Motor Company, Case No. 1:33-av-00001, U.S. District Court, New Jersey.

UPDATE: On Sept. 30, 2016, a federal judge granted summary judgment against the plaintiffs on the majority of their claims, a single claim under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act will remain in the Ford fuel tank defect class action lawsuit.

I have a 2005 F350 SD that just had to have fuel tank replaced. Vehicle is always maintained by Ford service and only has 27K miles and I had to pay $2600 for repairs. Its all over intewrnat about this problem and a number of class action lawsuits pending. How do I sign on for compensation. Ford obviously has a part quality issue that they are passing on to consumers. Please count me in on action against Ford.

Be careful people that have ford E series trucks mind truck is a cut away with a 55 gallon gas tank behind the rear wheels I Just went over the 33,000miles mark.On 08/07/2013 I got on Northbound 95 @Bridge Street while merging onto highway my 10 cylinder engine that normally will really take off and get out front quickly while merging this time doing about 55 mph and climbing motor started starving for gas while a tractor trailer came down on me I had to make a fast decision and pull to my right and take out all the cones on the highway where road work was being done if I didn’t react to trucks air horn’s I wouldn’t be writing this warning to all.
NOTE I keep extra fuel filters on truck because I change them every 4 months there very small fuel filters maybe 2 inches by 3 inches round with 2 inch legs on each end.Its located under vehicle on drivers side directly on the drivers seat tough to get to but I’m getting better changing them now just watch you don’t get gas in your eyes like me it burns like hell.I Guess changing filter every 500miles now is better then being killed so that day had to crawl under vehicle with a state trooper behind me while doing so eased my danger under vehicle took me 5 minutes but shitting my pants with those vehicles flying pass make vehicle move even know I was two lanes over away from traffic but you never can be safe on highway cops get killed all the time from people not paying attention.
