Ford Bronco and Maverick recall overview:

  • Who: Ford Motor Company initiated a recall for 456,565 model year 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and model year 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the vehicles could lose drive power as a result of a defective body and powertrain control module.
  • Where: The recall affects certain Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick owners nationwide.

Ford Motor Company initiated a recall for more than 450,000 of its Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick vehicles over concerns a defect with their body and powertrain control modules could result in a loss of drive power.

The Ford powertrain recall involves a total of 402,978 model year 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles and 53,587 model year 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles.

Ford said it is concerned the body and powertrain control modules in the recalled vehicles could fail to detect a change in the 12-volt battery’s state of charge, leading to a loss of drive power and present an accident risk.

“An undetected low battery charge can result in a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford said, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall acknowledgement letter

Ford Bronco recall: Dealers to recalibrate body and powertrain control modules on recalled vehicles

Ford said it plans to remedy the recall by having its dealers recalibrate the body and powertrain control modules on the recalled vehicles, free of charge.

The automaker expects to mail Ford recall notification letters to affected vehicle owners on May 13, 2024. Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact Ford directly by telephone at 1-866-436-7332.

Ford initiated a separate recall earlier this month for more than 40,000 model year 2022-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and model year 2022 Ford Escape vehicles over concerns their fuel injectors could crack and leak fuel inside their engine compartments, creating a fire risk

My 2021 Bronco Sport is one of the ones recalled. It has had 6 recalls since I purchased it in April 2021. Had I known about these issues, and the repairs that would be needed to the transmission, exhaust, turbo,. converter, AC, rear end, Water pump and oil pan due to leaks, I wouldn’t have purchased it! Its been a night mare and has caused me issues with my job with all the times I have been stranded and not had transportation!

My Bronco 2021 sport outerbanks lost power to the power train thank God I was able to get to safety. The recall 24S24 control module is suppose to fix the problem mentioned above. The recall 24S24 has screwed up my truck I can’t even drive my truck. I took my truck back to the dealership they denied that any thing is wrong my truck while insulting me by saying I don’t know how to drive an automatic truck. Ford corporation should be held accountable for what they are doing with their trickery. SHAME ON YOU FORD.

  3. Dave Underwood says:

There needs to be a class action against Ford for the standard Bronco transmission rampant failures when towed four wheels down. There are many forums that have hundreds of Bronco Owners with failed transmissions after towing 4 down per the instructions in the owners manual, me included. After speaking with a For Trans Tech he said the problem is that the instructions state to leave the transmission in Neutral but it should be placed in Park so that the fluids continue to circulate – they wont when towed in Neutral. Ford has issued a General Service Bulletin to all Dealers to cover up this issue and blame it on the owners

My 23 Maverick did just that ON A HIGHWAY. Just lost power. Hazards wouldn’t work. Just a death trap. And Ford acted like it was my fault for the truck not WAITING for them to finally maill the recall notice. They knew 2 1/2 weeks before I almost got hammered by several semi’s. Wth is the app etc good for then?

My Bronco Sucks! Do not buy one. They are awful. Always something wrong with it.
