A growing number of reports are being filed over pressure cookers with significant defects that can cause explosions. Many customers have filed a pressure cooker lawsuit as a result.

According to consumers, pressure cooker explosions can spew boiling liquid and food onto anything nearby, which can cause serious second- and third-degree burn injuries. These reports have been documented online for quite some time.

While online complaints have been the main avenue for these pressure cooker reports, a class action lawsuit investigation was recently launched to look into some of these products and their reported defects.

Pressure cooker manufacturers involved in the investigation include the following:

  • Aldi
  • Crofton
  • Cuisinart
  • Maxi-Matic
  • Tristar
  • Wolfgang Puck
  • Others

The Problem With Pressure Cookers

Pressure cooker problems can include defective parts, malfunctions, and even explosions, a growing number of customers are claiming. According to complaints, pressure cooker explosions can splatter boiling contents onto people nearby, which can cause painful and even disfiguring burns.

Customers have reported that their pressure cooker lid blew off quite suddenly, spewing boiling hot food and liquid onto their skin. Of course, it is to be expected that these devices are highly pressurized—their very name indicates as much—but customers have claimed that these explosions were something more intense.

People have allegedly suffered from these explosions even after depressurizing their device per the instructions. These explosions may be caused by faulty components that actually allow device pressure to keep building.

On top of burns caused by these dramatic pressure cooker explosions, customers have reported suffering from steam-related burns after the “airtight” device seals were broken early. The hot steam that subsequently escaped caused unexpected burns.

Pressure Cooker Lawsuits

Many customers have already filed a pressure cooker lawsuit over explosions, burns and other defects. These lawsuits have been filed against a number of pressure cooker manufacturers, claiming they failed to adequately warn customers about the risk of these defects and pressure cooker burns, placing customers at risk.

A number of companies have already been targeted in at least one pressure cooker lawsuit, including Wolfgang Puck, Tristar and Maxi-Matic. A pressure cooker lawsuit would seek compensation for damages, claiming medical expenses, pain and suffering, permanent disfigurement, lost wages, damage to property and more.

Filing a Pressure Cooker Lawsuit

These reports have sparked a class action pressure cooker lawsuit investigation which is looking into defects linked with the Elite Bistro Pressure Cooker from manufacturer Maxi-Matic. Potential participants in this investigation are those who have purchased an 8-Quart Elite Bistro Pressure Cooker from Maxi-Matic from the Home Shopping Network in either 2014 or 2015.

If you have suffered from pressure cooker burns after using an Elite Bistro Pressure Cooker device or from one of these other manufacturers, you may be able to file a pressure cooker lawsuit.

While a pressure cooker lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering caused by pressure cooker burns, it can help to alleviate the financial burden caused by medical expenses and lost wages.
