Daily Harvest recalls French Lentil + Leek Crumbles due to reports of gastrointestinal issues

Daily Harvest is recalling its French Lentil + Leek Crumbles after reports of the product causing gastrointestinal issues. 

The recall was initially posted on the company website June 19, and the company posted an update June 22 that it was investigating the issue. 

“We took immediate steps to address what we heard from customers, reaching out to every person who received French Lentil + Leek Crumbles, instructing them to dispose of the product and not eat it,” Daily Harvest said.

“We simultaneously launched an investigation with internal and external experts throughout our supply chain and in accordance with regulatory procedures.”

Dispose of the product and do not eat it, company says

If you have French Lentil + Leek Crumbles, dispose of them and do not eat them, the company said.

On June 22, the company updated customers, saying it had launched an investigation to identify the root cause of the health issues being reported. 

“We’re working closely with the FDA and with multiple independent labs to investigate this,” the company said, noting that it was working with microbiologists, toxin and pathogen experts as well as allergists. 

It said, so far, all pathogen and toxicology results have come back negative, but it was continuing to do extensive testing.

“We are in touch directly with customers who reported adverse reactions and are collecting data to further the investigation, as well as offering refunds.”

Meanwhile, a Whole Foods Market red lentil dal is being recalled as it may be contaminated with listeria.
