pressure cooker explosions burns injuryA growing number of customers have posted complaints about pressure cooker burns from a variety of pressure cookers made by different manufacturers. According to customer complaints, pressure cooker problems can include defective parts, malfunctions, and even explosions—which can cause boiling hot food and liquid to splatter onto victims, causing second- and third-degree burns.

If you have suffered from pressure cooker burns or other injuries after using a pressure cooker, you may be able to file a lawsuit.

Pressure Cooker Burns

A number of complaints have appeared for years across the internet, as customers note their own experiences with pressure cooker burns from a variety of pressure cooker products.

One such customer said that use of the Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker led to “a stay in the burn unit.” According to the complaint, the customer’s pressure cooker exploded despite the locking top being secure, leaving them with severe pressure cooker burns. The pressure cooker burns were quite serious, the complaint claims: second and third degree burns that resulted in several days in the hospital. The pressure cooker burns were not localized, instead hitting their arms, chest, and stomach. This customer was reportedly using the Wolfgang Puck Pressure Cooker.

Complaints note a number of pressure cooker problems, including defective devices or parts, device malfunction, and even minor explosions. The explosions themselves are minor, but they can eject boiling contents capable of causing serious burns. Reports of these explosions say that the lid suddenly blew off, allowing boiling food to contact their skin.

Of course, pressure cooker devices are meant to be pressurized while cooking, as their name suggests. But customers claim that, even after following the instructions on how to depressurize the cooker and open the lid, the contents still exploded, causing pressure cooker burns.

After years of these complaints appearing online, a class action lawsuit investigation has been launched into the problem of pressure cooker burns from a variety of manufacturers. Manufacturers included in the investigation are:

  • Aldi
  • Crofton
  • Cuisinart
  • Maxi-Matic
  • Tristar
  • Wolfgang Puck
  • Others

Filing a Lawsuit After Pressure Cooker Burns

Several lawsuits have already been filed over pressure cooker burns against a number of companies, including Wolfgang Puck, Tristar, and Maxi-Matic. Plaintiffs seek hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation for their injuries, claiming medical expenses, pain and suffering, permanent disfigurement, lost wages, damage to property, and more.

It is the responsibility of manufacturers and retailers to make sure the products they sell are safe. Lawsuits allege that various pressure cooker manufacturers failed to adequately warn customers about the risk of pressure cooker burns, placing customers at serious risk.

If you have suffered from pressure cooker burns after using a device from one of these manufacturers or even one not listed, you may be able to file a lawsuit. While filing a lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering caused by pressure cooker burns, it can help to alleviate the financial burden caused by medical expenses and lost wages.
