A Carnival cruise ship incident that garnered headlines could have left employees and passengers with injuries and financial losses.
The Carnival cruise ship incident occurred on the eastern coast of Florida near Port Canaveral. According to those who lived through the Carnival cruise ship incident, there was a technical error on one of their boats that caused the ship to tilt to one side during a recent voyage.
The problem was reportedly caused by a problem with the fin stabilizer. According to experts, the fin stabilizer is used to prevent the ship from rolling to one side or another in an extreme fashion. The fin stabilizers are found on each side of the bottom of a ship’s hull.
Passengers on board the Carnival Sunshine report widespread fear during the Carnival cruise ship incident. Many said that furniture began to slide and that dishes and glasses were breaking and flying during that time.
Many of those passengers say they didn’t think it was a serious issue at first, since ships can rock from side to side slightly as they cut through the water. However, they later realized that the boat was tilting more than normal.
One passenger said that in the dining room, plates and silverware fell first from the tables, occasionally with shattered glass. Then tables began tilting over as well, causing chaos in and around the tables. Witnesses report widespread screams and panic among the passengers.
Carnival issued a statement to those who went through the Carnival cruise ship incident, explaining what caused it while also issuing an apology. The cruise line says that officers onboard were quickly involved in correcting the issue shortly after the ship began to list.
It is not yet known how many people were injured as a result of the incident or what types of offshore injuries were sustained due to the ship tilting to one side.
The Carnival cruise ship incident lasted approximately one minute, but that could be enough to cause severe injuries for passengers or crew members on the ship at that time. Some passengers say that water also spilled out of the pools during the time the incident occurred, which could make for a slippery deck and a higher chance of slip and fall accidents.
Passengers have complained that the cruise line didn’t give them enough information after the tilt occurred, leaving them concerned about the remainder of their trip. Some elected to forego the rest of their cruise, disembarking to fly back home when the Carnival Sunshine docked in the Dominican Republic.
Further information might be revealed following an investigation into what happened, but many travelers onboard the ship complain that Carnival wasn’t forthcoming with information about the incident.
