Cancer victims also eligible for the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund further includes: first responders; sanitation workers; city workers; firefighters, police officers and EMTs; construction workers; cleaners; utility workers; out-of-state responders; residents living below Canal Street; students going to a school below Canal Street; 9/11 volunteers; and many others.

September 11, 2001 Attacks
On the morning of September 11, 2001, a series of four coordinated attacks were led by al-Qaeda, an Islamic terrorist group. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center, and it forever changed America. That day, 2,753 people were killed, and almost a decade later, people are continuing to suffer adverse effects and complications from that attack.
Due to the release of airborne toxins released from 9/11, thousands of people are being diagnosed with cancer. Toxins may include burned jet fuel, aluminum, and asbestos.
The fund includes compensation for past medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost earnings, funeral expenses for loved ones, compensation for surviving spouses and children.
It was the federal government that set up the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund to help assist and aid cancer victims severely injured by hazardous toxins released from the September 11th attacks. Although the fund was closed in 2004, President Obama signed a 2015 bill allowing the fund to stay open until 2020.
Navigating the complex and burdensome paperwork and strict deadlines to participate in the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund can be difficult. An experienced 9/11 Victim Fund attorney can help and ensure you get the maximum compensation available.
