New York Couple files Lawsuit after Serious 18 Wheeler Truck AccidentA New York husband and wife have filed a lawsuit after an 18 wheeler truck accident, alleging that the truck driver and the trucking company were responsible for their injuries.

The plaintiffs, Xin G. and Ping Y., say they were involved in a serious 18 wheeler truck accident on Oct. 21, 2016. They were passengers in a car that their friend was driving on the freeway in Pennsylvania.

Because of rainy conditions, they were driving slowly and cautiously in the right lane with hazards on. However, the couple alleges that a truck driver working for FAF, Inc., came up from behind them and slammed into their vehicle and caused serious injury.

The 18 wheeler truck accident lawsuit alleges that, because of the truck driver’s negligence, dangerous driving, and failure to keep proper lookout for other vehicles, Xin and Ping suffered numerous injuries. The lawsuit lists Xin’s injuries, including injury to his right shoulder, ankle, and foot, as well as cervical myalgia and back pain, among others. Ping’s injuries include neck strain, chest pain, back pain, and cervicalgia, among others.

Both Xin and Ping allege that they have, on top of their physical injuries, suffered from lost wages and incurred medical expenses.

The injured couple filed their 18 wheeler truck accident lawsuit on Sept. 6, 2018, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

On average, half a million truck accidents occur each year in the United States. Injuries from these accidents can be severe, and many end in fatalities—indeed, more than 100,000 involve a serious injury, and around 5,000 are fatal.

An 18 wheeler accident can be devastating for those in regular passenger vehicles because of the size and speed of the larger truck. But injured parties or family members may be able to pursue litigation against the truck driver, insurance company, and trucking company for compensation through truck accident lawsuits or settlements. Because these kinds of accidents can be extremely severe, pursuing a truck accident settlement can help obtain compensation for injuries, medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, property damage, loss of companionship, and more.

In many cases, truck accident settlements can amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars or, in some cases, even in the millions. To most effectively handle truck accident litigation, it may help to consult a truck accident lawyer with experience in this area. They will be able to help you determine the scope of your claims and the best way to move forward.

Filing an 18 Wheeler Truck Accident Lawsuit

If you or someone you love was injured or died in an accident with a semi truck, you may be able to pursue an 18 wheeler truck accident lawsuit. While filing a lawsuit cannot undo the pain and suffering caused by an accident like the rear end collision that injured Xin and Ping, or bring a loved one back to life, it can offer some substantial compensation to help with medical expenses, lost wages, loss of companionship, and vehicle or property damage, as well as hold the truck company and driver responsible.

The 18 Wheeler Truck Accident Lawsuit is Case No. 4:18-cv-01759-MWB, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
