Side view of bored group of four friends watching a bad tv program sitting on a sofa in the livingroom of an apartmentA Samsung TV class action lawsuit investigation has been launched after several complaints have alleged that the company’s televisions are prone to premature failure. The Samsung TV class action lawsuit investigation alleges the early device failure can be attributed to defective internal parts, which causes the television to overheat.

This investigation was launched against the company for allegedly failing to warn the general public against these defects and that their products may have a much shorter life expectancy than advertised.

The Samsung TV class action lawsuit investigation primarily pertains to consumers in Florida and New Jersey who purchased Samsung plasma televisions manufactured between Jan. 1, 2009 and Nov. 30, 2014. Consumers allege the

There have been several legal actions already taken against the manufacturer, including a Samsung TV class action lawsuit. This Samsung TV class action lawsuit is being filed against Samsung and Sears, alleging the companies had manufactured and sold defective plasma televisions were prone to early failure and overheating.

The claim is being filed by lead plaintiff Charles D. McCallon, who alleges Samsung knew that it was distributing defective plasma televisions with inferior components.

Overview of Samsung TV Class Action Lawsuit

According to the Samsung TV class action lawsuit, McCallon had bought a Samsung 3D TV for $840 in 2011 at a Sears, but had experienced problems with the television after he moved to a different state.

Just two years after purchasing the television, the device allegedly broke. McCallon says he took it to a Samsung repair facility in 2013 and was told the television was “unrepairable” because one of the internal components was no longer in production.

More specifically, McCallon states the early device failure of the television was caused by defective capacitors, which had broken and could no longer regulate voltage spikes in the television. McCallon alleges Samsung knowingly manufactured and produced defective televisions, which were then sold to customers.

According to the Samsung TV class action lawsuit investigation, these products burn out way before the eight year lifespan the company promised. McCallon alleges these defective televisions have either forced consumers to get new devices, or have the owner face expensive repair costs.

“Manufacturer and retailer defendants have or should have had actual knowledge of the design defect in the televisions, but have failed to adequately recall/cease sales of the televisions and/or cure the design defect described in this complaint,” the Samsung TV class action lawsuit states.

The Samsung TV class action lawsuit alleges 10 counts of unjust enrichment damages and violations under state consumer protection law, with McCallon seeking an unspecified amount of compensation. McCallon’s seeks to represent “hundreds” of consumers who purchased allegedly defective Samsung televisions between 2009 and present day.

With the average retail price ranging between $250 to $5,000 for the TVs at issue, Samsung and Sears could face serious financial strain if this and other class action lawsuits are successful in obtaining damages for consumers. Samsung has been hit with three other class action lawsuits, alleging similar claims of defective components causing premature failure in the television. Customers who filed these Samsung TV lawsuits had reportedly paid at least $800 for Samsung 3D Smart televisions, with prices going up to $5,000.

This Samsung TV Class Action Lawsuit is Charles D. McCallon v. Samsung Electronics America Inc., et al., Case No. 2:18-cv-00114, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah.

I have QN55595BAFXZA. This TV got burnt in pixels within 6 months of usage. The burnt in pixels come from still images like channel logos, news banners, caption that you can’t turn off. Samsung replaced screen twice for the exact same issue that came out just before 6 months of usage. Apparently it is manufacturing defect where the technology is burning pixels on the screen. I asked them what happens if the screen get and issue again and was told that i have to deal with it as they won’t be replacing TV not repairing screen!. They told me to go and read their policies because I got courtesy screen replacement as TV is now after warranty and they don’t want to admit that this is a manufacturing defect and refuse to correct it but keep selling TVs with a known issue. They might be breaking laws by refusing to fix screen as each screen replacement should get new 12 months warranty. Someone needs to sue them so they stop defrauding people with defective technology. Have I known that I can’t watch news channels because of banners and logos burnt in pixels, i would not be ever buying this piece. I need my money back for this nuisance TV .

I have a UN40MU6390F AND THE LED BACK LIGHT HAS TURNED PURPLE. THIS IS A KNOWN LED BACK LIGHT FAILURE AND SAMSUNG REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AND TO THIS DAY, SAMSUNG IS STILL USING DEFECTIVE BACKLIGHT LED’S. GO INTO ANY STORE AND LOOK AT A TV THAT HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY FOR 8 OR 9 MONTHS AND YOU WILL SEE THE PURPLE SPOTS IN THE BACK LIGHT

I purchased two Samsung Smart televisions from Best Buy 2 years ago. One of the Tv needs a new panel. It has never been taken down when purchased and put up by a professional. Five months ago the TV started showing black outs while on and no pictures while still able to hear. Three months ago it just stop showing and want turn off unless being unplug. I called Samsung to tell them about this issue before I had no picture and nothing was done about this because I didn’t add an extended warranty when buying from Best Buy. After raising holy hail about this television, I was told by Samsung that they would replace the part but I would have to take care of the labor for $200. I have had over two appointments with Samsung and Customer Service, and they have come out each time without the part. When asking them, why did the panel of the television go out? They told me that it just does.I have asked them to replace this unit and I was told NO. That is unacceptable being that I am a consumer that has spent over $3,000 12/2020 for one unit that I can not look at and being disrespected, ripped off, and ignored about this so-called smart television. Everyday I call Samsung about this until they tell me that the parts has not come yet and should call back every day to find out when the part will be available. I have also asked for supervisors and managers to call or come to the phone and no call back and they can’t come to line . This is going on over there months and still no panel. I work to hard to only have a purchase this Smart TV in 2020 & spent over $3,000 and can’t see anything. I have also sent email to the CEO of Samsung on 3/14/2023 and still waiting on response. Please respond back.
    Thanks, LaQuesia Banks

Is there a recent class action lawsuit pending on Samsung electronics and or Samsung smart TV. Defective lines appearing in a TV

    1. VTE says:

IDK if there is a current lawsuit, but there should be. I bought a 70″ Samsung tv from Walmart with an internal crack. Samsung said It was somehow my fault, that I did not handle it properly. What an easy out to blame the customer. I want in on any upcoming lawsuit for sure because Samsung is shirking their responsibility.

Has anyone started a class action regarding the one connect boxes no longer available?

  8. Gerald Reed says:

Please, add me to the lawsuit. Purchased a Samsung LED Television UN50NU6900 new from Walmart on April 16, 2019. It has overheated and gone bad. The panel has a rectangular black ghost image across screen from top to bottom. Have photos. It is unusable now and not repairable.

May I also join this Class Action Law Suit?

I purchased a 75-inch TV one year ago (Jan 2020). It was placed in our vacation home and only used lightly about 12 weeks (total) from Jan 2020 to Jan 2021. I had purchased an Extended Warranty with the TV, which is supposed to cover TV repair or replacement until Jan of 2022. Last month (Feb 2021), our TV began displaying horizontal lines across the entire bottom 4 inches of the screen. I called Samsung to report – I was told to contact the Extended Warranty company to handle the service repair, since our TV was now 1-month out of Samsung’s Warranty.

Long story short – I’ve spent the last month (Feb – March 2021) getting ping-ponged back and forth between Samsung and the Extended Warranty company. No one will take ownership of this issue to repair … and this is a Service Contract (now, breached by them). I consider this Fraud. I’ve been told numerous times that a Service Repair company will call in 2 days to schedule my service – nothing ever happens … I call back and get the same BS run-around.

I was also told mid-March, by Samsung, that they would give me a 1-time service voucher (since I was not far out of their warranty). This voucher was shared with the Repair company, who said they were waiting on the part to be shipped. I was called a couple weeks later, once the part was in – but, had to wait to schedule repair. When I called today (3/31) to schedule the repair, I was no longer in the service company’s system and was told the service was “re-assigned”. When I called Samsung, they said they had cancelled the 1-time service voucher.

I called Samsung back today (3/31), I was on hold for 2 hours, while a young representative was trying to help me resolve. He said he was on the phone with a few departments trying to resolve – why? This is a no-brainer … I have an Extended Warranty Plan – why is it not being honored? Is the goal to keep ditching the customer until they give up or seek legal assistance?

    1. Tommy Xiong says:

I have issues with my Samsung TV model UN65TU7000F
4K 65 inch Smart TV. Does anyone else have issues with this TV? The TV has a defect that caused the TV not to turn on and when the tech got it to turn on, the picture is not complete on the screen. They’re trying to blame us and say that it’s physical damage so Samsung won’t cover the repair. We have the TV less than a year and we did not damage the TV. The picture just blacked out and no turning on. I’m sick of dealing with Samsung. BestBuy manager and geek squad tech confirmed that it’s manufacture defects but said they cannot return it without Samsung’s approval.

      1. VTE says:

Yes, the same happened with the 70″ Samsung I JUST purchased at Walmart.com. Blacked out on corner, horizontal lines, and will not stay on for more than 5 or 10 seconds and keeps doing off/on so I have to keep it unplugged. A lawsuit is needed.
