The class action settlement resolves allegations that the convenience store did not properly protect customers’ personal and financial information from hackers. As a result, MAPCO consumers may have experienced injury when a data breach exposed their private information.

Under the terms of the settlement, Class Members were offered financial compensation for actual financial losses due to the data breach if they could submit documentation. In addition, MAPCO also agreed to increase its safeguards to help prevent further security risks.

By agreeing to this class action settlement, MAPCO did not admit to any wrongdoing nor did the court determine any liability.

Class Members included all U.S. consumers “whose personal or financial data was stolen from MAPCO’s data systems (in the form of data from debit, credit, or other payment cards), and who were damaged thereby as a result of the data breach disclosed by MAPCO on or about May 6, 2013.”

The deadline to file a claim for the MAPCO class action settlement passed on Jan. 26, 2017.
