Bear Naked, Kashi Class Action Settlement Deadline Closing Soon

The deadline to file a claim for a $5 million class action settlement with Kashi Co. and a $325,000 class action settlement with Bear Naked Inc. over the labeling of their products is rapidly approaching. If you purchased Kashi or Bear Naked products within the past seven years, you may be eligible to claim up to $10, $25 or more from the class action settlements.

If approved, the Kashi settlement and Bear Naked settlement will resolve class action lawsuits accusing the companies of falsely advertising their products as “All Natural” or “100% Natural” even though they contained synthetic and artificial ingredients.

The companies deny any wrongdoing but agreed to refund consumers a portion of their product purchases to resolve the litigation.

Under the proposed Kashi class action settlement (Astiana v. Kashi Co.), consumers who purchased certain Kashi products between Aug. 24, 2007 and May 1, 2014 can claim $0.50 for each product purchased. Claims without proof of purchase will be capped at $25 in reimbursement.

Under the proposed Bear Naked class action settlement (Thurston v. Bear Naked Inc.), consumers who purchased certain Bear Naked products between Sept. 21, 2007 and May 1, 2014 can also claim $0.50 for each product purchased. Bear Naked claims without proof of purchase will be capped at $10 in reimbursement.

Class Members have until Aug. 25, 2014 to make a claim.

The cases are Astiana v. Kashi Co., Case No. 3:11-cv-01967-H-BGS and Thurston v. Bear Naked Inc., Case No. 3:11-cv-02890-H-BGS, in the U.S. District Court for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
