Rocket Mortgage employees class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Brittany Roseboro and John Glover filed a class action lawsuit against Rocket Mortgage LLC, Quicken Loans LLC, and five unidentified individuals.
  • Why: Roseboro and Glover claim Rocket Mortgage failed to pay its Michigan-based workers for their time spent doing off-the-clock work-related tasks.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in Michigan federal court.

Rocket Mortgage made its Michigan-based employees attend unpaid “pre-shift” meetings prior to being allowed to clock-in for the day, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiffs Brittany Roseboro and John Glover claim Rocket Mortgage further required Michigan workers to boot up and log onto their computers before being able to clock-in, and/or failed to compensate them for time spent in mandatory training for their jobs.

Roseboro and Glover argue Rocket Mortgage ultimately failed to pay its Michigan employees proper regular and overtime wages, due to the work-related tasks they allegedly had to do off the clock.

“Plaintiffs were not paid for preliminary activities which were integral and indispensable to their principal work activities,” the Rocket Mortgage class action states.

Roseboro and Glover want to represent a Michigan class of current and former non-exempt Rocket Mortgage employees who, in the last three years, were not paid for time attending a pre-shift meeting, booting up and logging onto computers, and/or for mandatory training.

Rocket Mortgage failed to pay Michigan-based workers federal, state minimum wage, says class action

Rocket Mortgage failed to pay its Michigan workers the required federal or state minimum wage for all their time worked by allegedly not paying the employees for work-related tasks done off the clock, the Rocket Mortgage class action alleges.

“Defendant knew or should have known that Plaintiffs and the Class and Collective members were engaged in “off the clock” work-related tasks of booting up their computers and programs before they were able to electronically clock-in,” the Rocket Mortgage class action states.

Roseboro and Glover claim Rocket Mortgage willfully violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Michigan Workplace Opportunity Wage Act

The plaintiffs are demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with an award of liquidated damages for themselves and all class members.

A separate class action lawsuit was filed against Rocket Mortgage in June over the claims the company violated the law by allegedly sending unsolicited calls and texts to individuals on the National Do Not Call Registry.

The Rocket Mortgage employees class action lawsuit is Roseboro, et al. v. Rocket Mortgage LLC, et al., Case No. 2:23-cv-11995, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
