Turkey Hill Dairy is recalling tubs of chocolate marshmallow ice cream as they may have been accidentally filled with peanut butter ice cream, which could be life-threatening to those with peanut allergies.

In a recall notice posted to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration website Apr. 21, the Pennsylvania company said it was recalling certain 48 oz. containers of its Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream because it could contain undeclared peanuts.

“People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the recall states.

The recalled products are limited to 385 containers of the product that may have been purchased by consumers between Apr. 14, 2022, and Apr. 19, 2022.

The UPC code of the affected product is 020735420935, and the sell-by date, found on the bottom of the package, is 03/02/2023.

This recall does not apply to any other UPC codes, “sell-by” dates, sizes or varieties of Turkey Hill Dairy products.

Turkey Hill Ice Cream Recall Initiated After Customer Raises Alarm

The recall was initiated after a consumer contacted Turkey Hill to warn that containers of the Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream may have been inadvertently filled with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream.

Turkey Hill Dairy has not received any reports of consumer illness to date, it said.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

All retail stores that received the recalled products have been instructed to remove them from their shelves.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact Turkey Hill Dairy at 1-800-MY-DAIRY.

In 2019, Turkey Hill was hit with a lawsuit alleging its ice cream is mislabeled as containing real vanillaAround half of its products allegedly contain a form of vanilla ice cream either exclusively or as part of a combination in a product, the plaintiff said.
