FXI mattresses sold at Costco recalled due to mold exposure

FXI issued a product recall for approximately 48,000 units of its Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch mattresses. The recall was prompted by a mold risk that emerged after the mattresses were exposed to water during their manufacturing process.

FXI sold the mattresses exclusively at Costco locations in the northwest United States and San Francisco Bay area.

Customers who purchased these affected mattresses should contact FXI for a full refund or replacement mattress, which will include free delivery and pickup/disposal services. Consumers can reach FXI at (888) 886-2057 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, or online at novaformcomfort.com/pages/recall.

Recall issued for Walmart Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion cake

David’s Cookies issued a recall for 960 units of Walmart’s Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes, which were incorrectly labeled as Marketside Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes.

David’s Cookies initiated the recall due to concerns about potential harm to consumers with peanut allergies as consumers with allergies may inadvertently purchase and consume the cakes.

The FDA announced the recall Sept. 19. It includes 7-ounce packages of the recalled Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes, identifiable by Lot No. BS23212 located on the top of the packaging.

Despite the mislabeling issue, David’s Cookies reported no incidents of illnesses or injuries associated with the recalled cakes. Consumers who purchased these cakes should return them to the store where they were originally purchased to receive a full refund.

Kia announces recall for Stinger sedan due to valve plunger defect

Kia initiated a recall affecting more than 18,000 of its 2018-2021 Stinger vehicles due to a potential valve plunger defect. This issue pertains to the fuel control valve plunger, which has the potential to become stuck inside the high-pressure fuel pump, leading to an overpressurization situation that can result in a loss of drive power for the vehicle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says this loss of drive power poses a risk of accidents.

As of now, neither the NHTSA nor Kia reported any injuries associated with this recall, and the company is not facing legal action in connection with the issue.

Mercedes-Benz GLC300 vehicles recalled due to trailer hitch defect

Mercedes-Benz USA initiated a recall affecting 11,853 model year 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 vehicles due to a trailer hitch defect that raises concerns about the potential detachment of these vehicles when being towed.

The issue centers around the front tow eye of the recalled GLC300 vehicles, which may have been inadequately threaded to the crossmember. This flaw could lead to the tow eye separating from the vehicle during towing, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Mercedes-Benz formally communicated this concern in a letter to the NHTSA. The auto manufacturer proposed a solution to address this safety issue, with plans to have its dealers inspect and replace the front crossmember of the affected GLC300 vehicles at no cost to owners.

Make Believe Ideas recalls Rainbow Road board books due to choking hazard

Make Believe Ideas issued a recall affecting nearly 273,000 of its Rainbow Road series board books due to a safety concern involving the plastic binding rings. The plastic rings can detach from the books, posing a choking hazard and prompting the recall.

The affected books are identified by their ISBNs and include titles such as Animal Counting, Dinosaur’s First Words, Old Macdonald Had a Farm, Rainbow Road Book Box, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, Things that Go!, Unicorn’s Colors and Where’s My Bottom. These books were available for purchase individually or as part of a four-book box set, and the ISBN is printed on the right-hand corner on the back, located above the barcode.

There have been no reports of injuries associated with this recall. Make Believe Ideas urges consumers to register for a gift card refund online at recallrtr.com/rr after confirming disposal of the recalled books.
