Family Dollar, Candy Dynamics, Costco, KVK-Tech, Secura top recalls overview:

Several popular companies, retailers and manufacturers announced recalls last week for products that may pose injury to consumers. Here are Top Class Actionsโ€™ top recalls for the week of Oct. 9.ย 

Family Dollar recalls various OTC drugs due to improper storage

Family Dollar initiated a recall for a wide range of over-the-counter drugs and medical devices shipped outside specified temperature conditions from June 1 to Sept. 21, the recall notice says. Family Dollar distributed the products across 23 states and were available for purchase from June 1 to Oct. 4.ย 

The recalled items include ointments, mouthwash, toothpaste, pain relievers, powders, saline solutions, cough and cold medications, antacids, creams and more, the recall notice says.ย 

Family Dollar has not received reports of illness linked to the recalled products. Affected consumers can return these products to the Family Dollar store of purchase for a full refund, even without a receipt, according to the recall notice.ย 

Candy Dynamics recalls Slime Licker candies due to potential choking hazard

Candy Dynamics issued a recall for approximately 70 million units of its Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy because the rolling ball housed within the candy container can detach inside a childโ€™s mouth.ย 

The recall, which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published Oct. 5, pertains to Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy packaged in 2-ounce and 3-ounce containers and featuring blue, red, green or pink packaging.ย 

Candy Dynamics reported two instances of the rolling applicator ball detaching from the recalled candies but no injuries. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and can get a full product refund by contacting the company directly, according to the recall. To qualify for the refund, the product cannot be empty of the liquid candy.ย ย 

Costco recalls include half ham, protein powderย 

Separate companies issued product recalls for items sold at Costco.ย 

Sunnyvale Smoked Meats initiated a recall for Kirkland Signature Master Carve Half Ham, Natural Juices Boneless Smoked Half Ham, which Costco sold Sept. 26 and 29, due to potential listeria contamination.ย 

The affected hams bear a use-/freeze-by date of Jan. 2024 and lot no. 264-4. Sunnyvale advises Costco customers not to consume the recalled half hams and encourages them to return the product to their local Costco store for a full refund.ย 

In a separate incident, Orgain issued a recall for Orgain Organic Protein & Superfoods Powder โ€“ Creamy Chocolate Fudge with Probiotics, a protein powder. The affected products were available Sept. 8 to 28.ย 

Orgain initiated the recall, announced Sept. 28, due to concerns the Orgain protein powder contains undeclared sesame, which is an allergen. The affected products have lot nos. 3212 EL 14, 3213 EL 14, 3214 EL 14 and 3228 EL 14, with expiration dates ranging from July 31, 2025, to Aug. 16, 2025.ย 

KVK-Tech recalls betaxolol tablets due to potential oxycodone contamination

KVK-Tech announced a nationwide recall for a specific batch of betaxolol tablets, USP 10 milligrams, as a precautionary measure.ย 

The recall, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration disclosed Oct. 3, was prompted when a KVK discovered a single oxycodone HCI tablet in the packaging line during line clearance after the affected lot was packaged. The recalled product includes betaxolol tablets, USP 10 milligrams, with batch no. 17853A and an expiration date of June 2027.ย 

Consumers who possess the recalled betaxolol tablets should discontinue their use immediately and return the product to KVK. The company will facilitate a full refund for these recalled items. For any inquiries or concerns regarding the recall, individuals can contact KVK at (215) 579-1842, ext. 6002, or by email.ย 

Secura recalls air fryers due to fire, burn hazards

Secura initiated a recall of approximately 6,400 Secura air fryers due to concerns regarding a potential wire connection issue that may lead to overheating, presenting fire and burn hazards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published the recall Sept. 28, also encompassing about 680 Secura air fryers sold in Canada.ย 

Although Secura received nine reports of the recalled air fryers catching fire, burning or emitting smoke, no injuries or property damage have been documented thus far. The affected Secura air fryers include those with model no. SAF-53D (TXG-DT16E) and date code 1901, as well as model no. SAF-53 (TXG-DS16) with date codes 1903 and 1904.

Consumers should cease using the recalled Secura air fryers immediately and contact the company. Secura is offering affected customers a choice between a $45 Amazon gift card or a free replacement Secura product.ย
