Tyson recalls dinosaur chicken nuggets due to potential metal contamination

Tyson Foods issued a product recall for approximately 29,819 pounds of its fully cooked, breaded, dinosaur-shaped chicken patty products due to potential contamination with metal pieces.ย

The recall specifically applies to Tyson Fully Cooked Fun Nuggets Breaded Shaped Chicken Patties with a best-by date of Sept. 4, as reported in a recall alert by the U.S. Department of Agricultureโ€™s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Nov. 4.ย

The FSIS highlighted one reported case of a minor oral injury associated with the consumption of the recalled Tyson chicken patty products. The agency advises consumers who have purchased these products to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.

High lead levels result in recall of WanaBana fruit puree pouchesย

WanaBana initiated a widespread recall of its Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree Pouches, encompassing all lots, due to reported elevated lead levels.ย

The recall follows a prior advisory from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautioning against the purchase of these pouches. The affected products are sold as WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree in three-pack pouches of 2.5 ounces.ย

WanaBana is collaborating with the FDA to investigate the cause of lead contamination, prompted by four reported cases of illnesses. Subsequent investigations by North Carolina governmental entities revealed elevated lead levels in the pouches, posing a risk of acute toxicity.ย

The FDA strongly advises against the purchase or consumption of WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree Pouches.

Hearn Kirkwood recalls croissant sandwiches due to soy, milk presence

Hearn Kirkwood issued a voluntary recall for 5,895 clamshell containers of croissant sandwich products due to a failure to disclose the presence of soy and milk allergens.ย

The recall, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration published Nov. 7, pertains to croissant sandwiches distributed in Washington, D.C., and 14 states across the Midwest and East Coast. Maryland-based Hearn Kirkwood urged consumers with soy or milk allergies or sensitivities to dispose of the recalled croissant sandwiches, emphasizing the potential for serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

The recall encompasses various croissant sandwiches from brands Food Unlimited, Jack & Olive and Sprig & Sprout with use-by dates falling between Oct. 27-Nov. 8, 2023. Hearn Kirkwood reports no illnesses associated with the croissant sandwich recall, and no other products from the company are subject to recall.

The company initiated the recall after discovering an ingredient supplier neglected to inform them of a formulation change in one of the ingredients used in the recalled croissant sandwiches. This oversight resulted in the distribution of products lacking proper allergen identification for soy and milk.ย

Overheating risk leads Twin-Star electric fireplace recall

Twin-Star initiated a recall for its Style Selections 42-inch-wide Infrared Quartz Electric Fireplaces sold at Loweโ€™s, citing a fire hazard resulting from overheating.ย

The recall affects 14,670 units of the product, which retailed for approximately $200 at Loweโ€™s and Lowes.com from Sept. 2021 to Jan. 2023. Specifically, the recall pertains to the 5,200 BTU Black Infrared Quartz Electric Fireplace with model no. 42HF295FGT manufactured before January 2023 and carrying date codes of 0521, 0322, 0422, 0522, 0622, 0722 and 0822.ย

The recall follows 24 reports of overheating and two incidents involving property damage, although no injuries have been reported. The company advises consumers to immediately discontinue use and unplug the recalled electric fireplace, encouraging them to reach out for a full refund. Consumers can complete the online fireplace recall registration form or contact Twin-Star at (855) 884-9651 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET Monday to Friday.ย

Chrysler recalls Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer vehicles due to seat belt defect

Chrysler issued a recall affecting over 97,000 model year 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles due to concerns about defective third-row seat belt buckles that may be inaccessible or damaged.ย

The recall emphasizes the potential risk for occupants in these SUVs to be unable to securely fasten their third-row seat belts, thereby increasing the likelihood of injury in specific crash scenarios. The identified seat belt issue not only poses a safety risk but also violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, which mandate properly assembled and structurally sound seat belts in all vehicles.

To address the concern, Chrysler outlined plans to inspect and, if necessary, replace the third-row seat belt buckles on the affected Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The automaker is set to commence notifying affected vehicle owners about the recall on or around Dec. 15, 2023.ย
