LG, Bissell, Ameripack, Sakar, Selfie Craft Company top recalls overview:

  • Where: The recalls are effective in the United States. The Bissell recall is also effective in Canada, and the LG recall is also effective in Canada and Mexico.

Several popular companies, retailers and manufacturers announced top recalls this week for products that may pose injury to consumers. 

LG smart TVs recalled due to tip-over, entrapment risks

On Jan. 12,the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website published a recall for 55,000 LG 86-inch smart televisions and stands sold in the United States, as well as 2,900 sold in Mexico and about 1,800 sold in Canada. The TVs can become unstable while on the assembled stand, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in injury or death to children and others. 

The recall involves four LG Electronics 86-inch smart TV models with model numbers 86UQ8000AUB, 86UQ7070ZUD, 86UQ7590PUD and 86NANO75UQA, which can be found on the bottom right of the back of the TV.

There have been a total of 22 reports of the TV stand’s instability, with 12 reports of tip-overs. There have been no reported injuries so far. LG encourages consumers to remove the supporting stand legs and place the TV in a safe location, then contact LG Electronics for instructions on how to inspect the unit and obtain replacement parts. 

Bissell recalls cordless vacuums due to potential overheating risk

Bissell issued a recall of more than 65,000 cordless vacuum cleaners as the battery pack can overheat and smoke, potentially causing a fire.

The recall applies to Bissell Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuums in Models 2551, 2551W and 25519. The model numbers are visible after removing the clean water tank. The recall comes after Bissell received 66 reports of the vacuum smoking and emitting a burning odor. 

Consumers can either take the product to a local Bissell authorized service center for a free battery pack replacement or schedule a free in-home repair visit from an authorized Bissell service technician to replace the existing battery pack, the recall states.

Ameripack Foods recalls brownies sold at Texas H-E-B stores due to undeclared soy, egg

On Jan. 11, Ameripack Foods LLC announced on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website that it recalled 976 pounds of Meal Simple Chocolate Chunk Brownies in 13-ounce packages because they could contain undeclared soy and egg.

The undeclared soy and egg in the product can pose a severe risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction to people who have an allergy and consume it, according to the recall notice. Consumers who have purchased this product should stop using it immediately. 

There have been no injuries or illnesses reported to date. Consumers can return the product to the nearest H-E-B store for a full refund, according to the recall.

Sakar announced recall for three different bike helmets that don’t comply with safety standards

Sakar International recalled three models of its bike helmets as they don’t comply with federal safety standards and can fail to protect the rider in the event of a crash, posing a head injury risk.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website posted the recall Jan. 19. It applies to about 33,100 Credhedz Lizard Helmets, Crayola Dry Erase Helmets and Tony Hawk Multi-Purpose Helmets. 

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact Sakar for instructions to return the helmet to Sakar for a refund in the form of a $30 gift card, according to the recall notice.

Selfie Craft Company recalls children’s pajamas due to burn risk

On Jan. 19, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website posted a recall for about 38,740 sets of Selfie Craft Company pajamas that failed to meet flammability standards and pose a risk of burn to children. 

The pajamas were sold in different designs, including Birthday Boy, Dinosaur, Sleeping Sloth and more. Selfie sold the sets online at www.etsy.com, www.uncommongoods.com, www.macys.com, www.selfiecraft.co.uk, www.thetot.com and boutiques nationwide from November 2017 through June 2022 for about $39.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled pajama sets away from children, stop using them and contact the Selfie Craft Company, the children’s pajamas recall says.
