Tesla, Whole Foods, Empanadas Valrico Inc., Aldi, Cambridge Elevators recalls overview:

  • Who: Tesla, Whole Foods, Empanadas Valrico Inc., Aldi, Cambridge Elevating and Custom Elevators recalled their respective products this week.
  • Why: These top recalls revolve around product safety and possible risk of harm.
  • Where: The recalls are effective nationwide.

Several popular companies, retailers and manufacturers announced top recalls this week for products that may pose injury to consumers.

Tesla recalls 1M+ vehicles due to window defect

At the top of our list of top recalls is Tesla, which announced a recall for over 1 million vehicles after it discovered that some 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles might have defective automatic windows that can pinch fingers.

The Tesla power window automatic reversal system reportedly may not react appropriately if an obstruction such as a finger is detected when the window is closing. As a result, the closing window may exert force on the object before retracting, potentially causing an injury. Tesla recently notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it would fix the issue with a software update; customers do not need to take their vehicles to a dealership for repair.

No injuries, crashes or other incidents are associated with the power window issue, Tesla says. It incorporated the power window software update into vehicles built since Sept. 13.

Whole Foods caesar dressing recall expanded

Van Law Food Products expanded a nationwide salad dressing recall to include its Whole Foods Market 365 Organic Creamy Caesar Dressing that has best-by dates of Sept. 21, 2022, through June 6, 2023, and are sold in 12 oz. glass bottles. The newly recalled salad dressing will also have an incorrect UPC Code of 99482-49027.

Van Law Food Products Inc. first announced Aug. 16 it had recalled its Whole Foods Market 365 Organic Creamy Caesar Dressing because it contains undeclared soy and wheat allergens. Customers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or wheat are at risk of “serious or life-threatening allergic reactions” if they consume the ingredients.

The original recall applied to products with UPC code 99482-49027 in 12 oz. glass bottles with a best-by date of 04/06/2023. Consumers who purchased the recalled product should return it to the point of sale with a receipt.

6,000+ lbs. of Empanadas Valrico Inc. beef and chicken empanadas recalled

Approximately 6,247 pounds of Empanadas Valrico Inc. beef and chicken empanadas are being recalled in Florida because the products were not inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The Sarasota company produced and distributed the beef and chicken empanadas to Florida retailers from March to September 2022. It discovered the program when the Florida Department of Agriculture notified FSIS that the frozen empanada products did not have the USDA mark of inspection and were produced in an establishment that was not inspected by USDA.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products; however, consumers are urged to not consume them and return them to the place of purchase.

Aldi salad dressing recalled due to undeclared wheat, soy

TreeHouse Foods voluntarily recalled one lot of its Restaurant Style Italian Dressing that it sells under the brand name Tuscan Garden and through the supermarket Aldi over concerns it contains undeclared wheat and soy.

Labeling for TreeHouse’s Restaurant Style Italian Dressing only declares that it has the allergens egg and dairy, although some of the Restaurant Style Italian Dressing may contain an unintended Asian Sesame Dressing, which contains the allergens wheat and soy.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. TreeHouse urges consumers who purchased the Restaurant Style Italian Dressing to either dispose of it or return it to its original place of purchase to receive a full refund.

Cambridge Elevating, Custom Elevators recall residential elevators

Cambridge Elevating and Custom Elevators initiated recalls for their residential elevators after determining that a young child could become trapped between the elevators’ interior and exterior doors if there is a “hazardous gap.”

Cambridge Elevating recalled around 1,700 of its residential elevators, including its Elmira and Heritage models, while Custom Elevator recalled some of the 15,200 residential elevators the company has manufactured since 2003.

A child who becomes trapped between the elevator’s exterior door and its interior door or gate could subsequently suffer serious injuries or death when the elevator moves to another floor.

Consumers who want more information about or assistance with the residential elevator recalls can contact Cambridge Elevating online, by email or by phone at (866) 207-6551 or Custom Elevator online, by email or by phone at (888) 443-2800.

Nissan murano paint defective and Nissan refuses to address the issue. 1 year after purchasing my car the rear hatch had it’s clear coat peel which Nissan refused to correct. It cost me $800.00 to repaint. Since then, the drivers side paint started pitting and once again Nissan refused to take action. The color is merlot and I have seen this on other murano’s of the same color
