Newair air fryer recall overview:

  • Who: Newair recalled its Magic Chef Air Fryer Digital Air Fryer.
  • Why: The air fryer can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.
  • Where: The air fryer recall is active in the United States.

Newair recalled nearly 12,000 of its Magic Chef air fryers, as the fryers can overheat and start a fire.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website posted the recall notice on Oct. 13. It applies to about 11,750 Magic Chef Air Fryer Digital Air Fryers that can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards, the company says.

The affected air fryers have model numbers MCAF56DB (black) and MCAF56DW (white).

The fryers feature “Magic Chef” printed on the top, according to the air fryer recall. The rating label on the bottom has the brand name “Magic Chef” along with the model number.

Consumers can return Newair air fryers for credit

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fryers, the air fryer recall notice says.

No injuries have been reported so far and the company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Affected consumers should provide a picture of the rating label to the firm to receive instructions to disable the air fryer and receive a newair.com credit.

The credit amount will be $50 or the amount on the purchase receipt, whichever is higher. Consumers do not need a receipt to receive the $50 credit, the Newair air fryer recall states.

Newair sold the air fryers online at Newair.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, Amazon.com and Target.com from July 2018 through September 2020 for between $115 to $138.

In related air fryer news, in April, Best Buy issued a recall for around 635,000 of its Insignia Air Fryers and Air Fryer Ovens over concerns they can overheat and pose a fire and burn hazard.
