Chrysler recall overview:

  • Who: Chrysler recalled 142,150 of the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 3500 Classic, 3500 Chassis Cab, and 2023-2024 Ram 2500, 4500/5500 Chassis Cab and Ram 3500 vehicles.
  • Why: The steering column control module can malfunction, causing the high-beam lights to activate along with the turn signal and vice versa.
  • Where: The Ram and Cab Chassis recall is effective across the United States.

Chrysler (FCA) announced a recall for the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 3500 Classic, 3500 Chassis Cab, and 2023-2024 Ram 2500, 4500/5500 Chassis Cab and Ram 3500 vehicles due to a malfunctioning steering column module.

The issue causes the high-beam lights to activate along with the turn signal and vice versa. The malfunction may cause confusion or reduced visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the Chrysler recall.

The recall letter from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says the turn signal self-canceling feature also may not function properly.

FCA dealers set to repair control module issues free of charge

FCA did not say whether it received any reports of injury related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Owners may contact FCA customer service at 800-853-1403. The Ram recall number is B2A.

FCA will send owner notification letters by Jan. 17, according to the Ram recall. Dealerships will inspect the vehicles and replace the steering column control module free of charge if necessary.

Chrysler issued a recall in October for some of its 2022-2024 Ram trucks due to an issue with radio interference that causes the rearview camera to not display an image.
