(July 20, 2022)

Albertsons Companies recalled three of its seafood ReadyMeals as the allergens are not listed on the ingredient labels, which could lead to serious allergic reactions.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) posted the recall notice on its website July 19.

The recall applies to ReadyMeals Shrimp Cooked with Cocktail Sauce, ReadyMeals Snow Crab Legs Imitation Surimi and ReadyMeals Crab & Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce with all sell-through dates up to July 18.

The recall was initiated after an internal review identified missing ingredients containing allergens, the Albertsons recall states.

“Consumers who have certain food allergies or severe sensitivities run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products and are urged not to consume these items,” the notice says. “These consumers should discard the products or return them to their local store for a full refund.”

Albertsons recall says ReadyMeals sold at multiple stores

The ReadyMeals were sold at ACME, Albertsons, Andronico’s Community Markets, Balducci’s, Carrs-Safeway, Eagle, JewelOsco, King’s, Pak ‘N Save, Safeway, Shaw’s, Star Market and Vons in various states.

The states where the products were sold are Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia, Washington state, Washington D.C. and Wyoming.

There have been no reports of injuries or adverse reactions to the products reported so far, the company says. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Albertsons is facing a number of class action lawsuits over the packaging of its products.

In May, it was hit with a class action lawsuit alleging it cheats its customers by falsely representing that some of its over-the-counter drugs, including analgesic or pain-relieving medicines with acetaminophen, are “Rapid Release.”

In June, the company was hit with another class action lawsuit alleging Albertsons Companies’ Signature Select brand macaroni and cheese products are sold in boxes that are nearly half empty.
