Casino gambling apps featuring slots, poker, and other games may violate state gambling laws due to in-app purchases.
What Are Casino Gambling Apps?
There are countless casino gambling games available to download through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Zynga, a well known app developer, offers several casino apps such as Wizard of Oz Free Slots, Willy Wonka Slots, Black Diamond Casino, and more. Other popular casino games are available from developers such as DoubleU Games, DoubleDown Interactive, Grande Games, Spinx Games Limited, and Product Madness.
Although these games are primarily free to download at first, casino gambling apps may encourage in-app purchases. These microtransactions may provide users with in-game currency which allows them to continue playing. After numerous transactions, consumers can quickly spend hundreds of dollars on in-game purchases in order to keep playing the casino gambling apps.
Are Casino Game Apps Legal?
Casino apps may be illegal under state gambling laws due to their in-game purchases. Through these purchases, app users may essentially be gambling with real money—meaning that the apps could be subject to state gambling laws.
Each state has different gambling regulations. In some states, gambling is completely outlawed. In others, gambling can only occur under specific circumstances and by certain businesses. Gambling apps may violate these laws by illegally providing a venue for gambling activities.
Have Gambling App Class Action Lawsuits Been Filed?
Casino game developers and app store operators have faced legal action for allegedly profiting from illegal gambling schemes. There are guidelines around what makes a mobile app legal.
This month, Apple became the most recent company to be targeted in a casino gambling apps class action lawsuit. According to plaintiff Kiesha Lowe, she and other consumers fell victim to illegal gambling apps from Zynga.
Lowe says that she made regular in-app purchases over the span of three years while playing Zynga’s Wizard of Oz slots game. Small purchases of $4.99, $9.99, and $19.99 allegedly snowballed—eventually costing Lowe over $250.
The casino gambling apps class action lawsuit contends that Apple knowingly profited off of an illegal gambling app through significant commissions. The company allegedly collects up to 30% of all in-app purchases made through casino apps.
Apple also allegedly makes a profit off of “loot boxes” used in children’s and non-gambling games.
Lowe contends that these commissions quickly stack up to millions in profits. In 2019, Lowe says that consumers such as herself lost around $3.5 billion through in-app purchases on “free to play” apps. To make matters worse, Apple allegedly targets the small population of app players who have a history of making large in-app purchases.
In her casino gambling apps class action lawsuit, Lowe seeks monetary compensation for herself and class certification for a proposed Class of similarly situated app users.
If you downloaded casino gambling apps from the Google Play or Apple App stores and spent money on in-game purchases, you may be eligible to take legal action.
Attorneys are interested in speaking to consumers from the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.
Should you be eligible for legal action, you could recover significant compensation from Google, Apple, or other companies which may have profited from illegal gambling schemes.

I am having a difficult time with Cash Frenzy. Have a lot of documentation on how they screw us around with in app purchases. With the mussions, the around the world missions completing it and not getting what was won. After going thru the entire shops and completing them. As well as mission passes that we purchase just for them to change the rules after purchasing for the incentives. The games set up to pretty much make u purchase if u want yo get anywhere. The increasing of prices n the duplicating charges.
Cash frenzy promises so much thinking you are gonna win but ads all the time to get you to purchase while changing the game to lock you out if you can’t keep the lounge benefit but will sell you passes for a price totally sad just to try to win to make yourself feel good at a cost
Please add me…the rip off game jackpot world is a money scam..I’ve spent hundreds..ashamed to admit..with very few wins but promises of high wins..the cost of coins keeps going up
